Some towns showed more voted for the standing president than there were eligible voters in the whole city. Now they are shooting people hoping to make them give up. I don't know if they will win, but I hope the people of iran will triumph.
Face The Nation and Goerge's show pretty much focused on Iran today. I really hope more and more media coverage gets out there. This has happened before where students have protested before and many have gone 'missing'. I hope this stops soon.
Honestly, I hope it doesn't stop, I'm glad those people are fighting for their country and what they believe in. I hope it continues on and they manage to oust their "supreme leader." Good for them, if I could do something to help I would.
This is not the first time it's happened. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_presidential_election,_2000
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rs79cLSduXw WARNING WARNING The video shows a woman being shot dead for just standing and watching the protests. RIP NEDA.
It might sound cold but this needs to go on and unfortunately there needs to be more like that poor girl whose death was captured on video. Iran is at the turning point right now and images such as those will help tip the balance towards a better future for them. Change comes at a cost and those deaths as sad as they may be are an acceptable loss for the greater good.
Oh my god, the video with the woman being shot, it's too disturbing. I'm surprised it's still on YouTube, I tought that at least they were going to prohibit the video for audiences under 18.
That's exactly what it occured to me when i read this sentence. The Al Gore "non election" in 2000 ^^
Watch the movie Recount. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1000771/ I was amazed on how complicated (and lame) the voting system in USA were like. And how people act so stupid for nothing. Brilliant comments from imdb: Anyway, now that we really needed UN and OTAN to re-estabilish democracy in Iran, unfortunately trillions have been wasted on Iraq to capture the "terrible" old Saddam. And to try stopping a civil war after it...
Western powers helped effect the mullahs in power after the shah was kicked out and it has been 30 years of Islamic dictatorship, where individuals do not enjoy the same freedoms as you and I - which would be fine if they didn't mind, but apparently they do. As a half-iranian i d rather keep western interests out of Iran. Countries, in general, are best left to their own device. I d rather have civil bloodshed than a blown-out war, although as many analysts correctly point out a war with Iran is highly unlikely due to many economic factors. That said, it is obvious that many people do not approve of their rule, current poster included. Iranians, who posess one of the oldest cultures in our world are highly intelligent people, per Henry Kissinger, and have a proven success record all over the world in the fields of science, motion picture and business amongst others, just like Hebrews. It's a gifted region with much conflict and friction between the residing countries, but its best, for the Iranian people, if any new revolution is entirely left to the people - no need for the sort of "democracy" Iraq is sporting.
Let's not forget Iran-Iraq war (more like Saddam x Khomeini): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iran–Iraq_War
That war was a total mess for both sides. So many people died, and I m not talking just about soldiers - women, children, rapes, and the usual other atrocities that go around during wartime. This war was funded by various outside governments, supporting Iraq, in an attempt to drain money and military equipment out of the just-revolted (and messy) Iran. No one really won to be honest and there's still a war-debt owed to Iran.
I'm not. Google is owned by red-blooded Americans. They know it should be shown. You don't have to be western-influenced to live in a fair and free society where you can be an out of the closet homosexual (amongst other things) and not live in fear of being executed for it.
that's what I was saying, that this regime is oppressive on the grounds of religion. I believe that politics and religion shouldn't mix anywhere, not just in Iran. It's a nasty combination.
Riiiight because Iraq was a peace loving equal rights having democracy that made life for its citizens a delight every single day..
