so, just browsing on ebay when this appeared. Whomever the seller is, they have to be the luckiest person alive. what i am talking about is here: One of a Kind RacerMate Challenge II Cartridge http://www.ebay.com/itm/One-of-a-Ki...8374?pt=Video_Games_Games&hash=item46092df866 Picture: Asking Price: $4999.99 USD. any takers?
i know that. the seller used that as the title of the post. we know theres at least 4073? of them (according to the seller and the plastic board saying 4073NES)
There's no way they sold 4073 exercise bikes with a nes attachment. Much less. Have te remember if you already owned a racermate you could buy the new cart. I don't see many people did that at all. It's rare for sure, but the prices people want for nes carts these days is fuckin unbelievable.
Maybe it was #4073 of the production run? i can agree on the cart prices though. a couple of months ago a guy was selling two undiscovered DR. Mario prototypes on EBAY for $125000.
just because they didnt sell 4073 bikes doesnt mean that 4073 and even more exist... an example would be the mass ET cartridges laying in a ditch right now in the desert. Chances are it probably didn't sell 1000, but they were so overly produced.
Probably not one of-a-kind, certainly first I ever see for sale on ebay. Btw, 1995 copyright on the title screen for an utterly obscur bicycle training US nes game ? Enough to make it überly rare.
Rare =/= Insane amounts of money. Something is only worth what some one els is prepared to pay for it, problem we have now with retro gaming is the extreme hype, as its the "in" thing to collect for at the moment.
(Rare + Nintendo) x Demand from buyers = insane amount of money What I am saying is if no one bought things at those extremely high prices will drop rapidly
There's a complete Stadium Events for $95,000 on there that came up in the "other items you might like" section, ha. Didn't that game top out at like $15,000 last year and that was a huge deal? Crazy.
Last time it didn't have VGA stamp or case. Anything with VGA must be worth at least 6x the highest non-VGA price ever. <sarcasm off>
Soon eBay listings will have "Your penis" as a price -_- Honestly, some of these listings are just stupid... Even recently I found a Xbox for $1,600. Sure it's a Pure White, but it's not worth any more than $500...
Oh yeah I think you're right, I know it was some insanely high price. I guess there's barely any of them still complete & boxed, but still, for that kind of money you could probably coax the guy who owns the PCE Cocoroon prototype into selling it, ha.
Reasons like this is why I'm glad I am not a NES collector. I would never have anything cool as I couldn't afford it ever. And there was one that went that high. The seller had found it still sealed in his fathers attic.
