this shit PISSES ME OFF 99% of ''rare games'' are fucking terrible!!!!!!!! There's a reason why they never made many of them, because they didn't have the financial backing and more to the pointhad no faith in their product and nor did distributors! Or more humbly, knew their game sucked! There's a reason why no one bought them! Because they're atrociously awful! I hate how asinine ''collectors'' are. Like the guy who bought a Zelda prototype for $50,000 (i think) his reasoning? ''It's worth it because it's Zelda'' or words to that effect. Rant over.
What pisses you off exactly? Yes, this item is rare. Yes, that's because there weren't many made, and it was expensive in the first place. The reason why ANYTHING is rare is that it was made in limited quantities, not many survived or collectors keep hold of them. I don't see what you're so annoyed about, really. No, it's not complete. Yes, it's overpriced. However, if someone wants to pay that, so be it.
it annoys me because who care if something is rare, my point is that most games are rare because they're shit! And why do people pay out the ass for games which are shit!!!!!!!!
Collector's spirit. If somebody is attempting to collect an entire catalog of a particular console, having rare items is icing on the collector's cake. These rare items can take a collection to the next level, at least within the collector's mind. Also, collector's usually know others who collect the same as them and have friendly competition with one another. Regarding price point, there are collectors who have loads of cash. They are the one's driving this market north. So, because of the demand by rich collector's, anyone who stumbles across something rare flings it up on ebay to see if it will stick. Most of times, no, but there are successful moments, hence the high end market being propelled forward. This niche area in the gaming market isn't for the average collector. Some will argue that this niche rare games market drives up prices across the board as people attempt to reset the pricing bar. This is the contention that many hold. Of course the fact that collecting retro games is rising in popularity, expect these trends to continue, for now. The used retro game market is inflating the same way beanie babies throttled up in pricing, of course everything has to come back down. This is known as a bubble.
