I've done that several times before for other reasons and no go... Hell, when I got new 360 #2, it had what I believe was Spring '07 update and it was a lot more responsive. One update later, and back to as it was before with replacement 360 #2. (Replacement #2 was actually the 3rd one in my possession, but the DVD drive crapped out and ended up getting new system #2 since drive crapout would've cost me alot probably for yet another refurb or repair...just to let you keep score.)
Off topic but I dont know how so many people have problems with there 360, I had a launch system and it worked fine for me until the day I sold it on ebay for cash to get an HDMI model and this one works great too Maybe im lucky as well Idk. About the dash Supposibly the Guide that pops up that looks like the old dash will show ur themes so no refunds. And I kindof Like the looks I think its gonna be a slow interface tho, it remidns me of MCE which is slow as well.
I would assume no refund unless they definately say otherwise...they can just point to the included clause in the description for each theme/gamerpic on marketplace saying no refund. The current dash is fine (I can live with the slower booting and navigating), but rather than scrap it and move on, it would've been nice to fix finding things in the marketplace blade (playstation network has a nice way of finding things). All said, there's time yet before release so who knows what they'll pull off with the new dash...just really don't care for the xiis (can we call them that?) though. *Edit* Looks like your themes and gamerpics will still work with the new dash...http://www.xbox360achievements.org/news/news-1357-E3-2008--Themes-Will-Be-Compatible-With-New-Dashboard.html
I guess im lucky too then, my 360 starts and connects to XBL almost instantly as well, but then again, it did before the fall 07 update also. EDIT: Post #100 whooohooooo!!
Im not sure, but i hope MS gives us an option to keep the original. Not that im not liking the new look, because i am, but just incase i dont like it and want to go back. but this is MS were talking about, so probably not! " no you cant use a KB and mouse for FPS games, we make computer software, what would give you the idea that we would implement such control methods??" Because your fucking Microsoft, dammit!!! im sorry, i just really dislike the fact that i had to buy / make a converter to use KB/M on my 360. ok im done venting now, i feel much better:icon_bigg.
You can still use the Windows 95 visual style in Vista nearly 15 years later. Granted the OS and Xbox are different divisions, but Microsoft in general is certainly willing to let people use "classic" visuals.
Uhhhh what game would work better on keyboard and mouse though? The only thing I can think of is Unreal 3....by god, the console versions of that game really do have bad control. I'm not into the whole keyboard/mouse debate since I can do either one, but wow. I couldn't hit anything. I think stuff like Halo works better on controller.
360 games that i play/ have played with a KB&M setup: Gears of War Quake 4 Halo 3 UT3 The Darkness Jericho Bioshock GTA4 Saints Row I was using this POS converter called the XFPS 360 for a while, with a SmartJoy Frag hooked up to it. Now im using this thing i built the other day called a XIM ( Xbox 360 Input Machine, go to xim360.com for more info), which is way better and feels much more PC like. Its all because i suck with using joysticks for FPS games ( and for that matter, 3rd person shooters). so there ya go.:icon_bigg EDIT: I forgot one - Condemned. A matter of personal preference. I absolutely SUCK at Halo with a 360 controller, but im pretty damn good with mt KB/M setup. Just to give you an example, i couldnt beat Halo 3 on the default difficulty with the controller, but with KB/M i beat it on Legendary ( check my achievements if you think im lying:icon_bigg) Dammit, if i still had Halo 3 i would say we should jump on a game together sometime, but i traded it in towards Unrealt Tournament 3, way better game IMO)
Either Joystiq or Kotaku had an interview with a Microsoft dude, and they said that no blade systems as the main dash, the new is a total replacement.
