I'm not sure what to make of it. I really want to say that's the greatest controller ever, but I'm not sure.
wait until augmented reality consoles come out in 7-10 years, then you'll really have a sword in your hand and you'll look like a real dork swinging your hands with nothing in them.
that shotgun one would be sweet However I doubt Nintendo would release anything like that, I remember when the N64 controllers were first revealed Nintendo said they would have all sorts of attachments such as one that would allow the controller to be used as a gun (Z-Trigger) and one that would allow it to be used a steering wheel. All we ever got was a rumble pack :\
If you look at the mockups, they are too western in appearance. Nintendo would never allow a realistic gun accessory. Never. The steering wheel, the point of a wheel is to have a fixed center. Driving with the wheel loose would be a terrible driving experience. It would fatigue the arms as well. I think you'll see 90% of the games use the controller stock. The other 10% will be special controllers.
i think your right on the 90% 10% deal. It will be alot like the first ds titles that made you use the stylus. They weren't full games they were just mini games.
Agreed. The only way to turn the Revolution remote into a usable steering wheel controller is to have an entire wheel, column and base module that it plugs into at which point you might as well just sell a complete steering wheel controller, not some module. I would further point out that using the Revolution remote as a light gun wouldn't really work. The Revolution controller keeps track of your position relative to the Revolution system, not your television screen. I suppose, there could be some calibration that would let it work relative to the screen, but it would have to be a pretty complicated calibration because what if you moved one foot to the left? That would completely throw off any simple sort calibration. Plus, the diffierence in the position of a lightgun when you're aiming at the top of the screen and the bottom is very very slight (depending on how far form the screen you are, of course), so the calibration would need to be very precise. I just don't think it could work. A normal light gun would, once again, just make more sense. I think that the best uses of the Revolution controller's features will be for sports games (anyone who's played the Xavix sports games like Boxing or Tennis knows how much fun that can be) and odd things like Samba De Amigo. Maybe we'll also finally see that sequel to NiGHTS Into Dreams. I think that even that is generous. If you're right that would actually be a really good ratio, certainly more than justifying the controller. Personally, I'll be using a Gamecube controller for most things because that "nunchaku" setup with half of the controller in each hand (especially when the part in your right hand is laid out the way the Revolution remote is) doesn't look any good at all for the vast majority of games. Either that or hopefully someone will release a normally designed controller that also has the Revolution remote's sensing features or something like this other unofficial mockup that I'm sure you've all seen: ...word is bondage...
