Courtesy of Capcom. First time I can ever truly say I've been pissed off by DRM. Had Games for Windows games used that I bought used, couldn't use with my live account with but could still save progress and for that price wasn't fussed about not getting achievements. This just takes the cake. Bioshock 2 and Batman: Arkham Asylum didn't have this issue and that's coming from two assholes in terms of DRM. Now I have to search for a crack to be able to save the game.
That's outrageous!!! They should allow you to save your game, Live on PC is a lot of bollocks IMO. That whole argument about used games that can't be re-sold is gonna annoy a lot of people. I'm not fussed about online game like COD, they're all the same anyway... But if you can't save your campaign game then I'm out...
It -isn't- live doing it. It's Capcom. Arkham Asylum, Bioshock 2 - All games for windows I bought used with CD keys used that I was able to save gameplay despite not logging into Live.
I am assuming you were at least signed into a "Guest" profile, correct? Almost every Windows Live game I have played will require you to be signed into an actual Xbox Live profile or a Guest profile, otherwise no saving. If this is with the Guest profile, than yeah, that is complete bullshit. If it isn't, then you should be able to play + save, even when offline.
It's just PC gamers being fucked over as per usual. When you sign into your live account you have to use your CD-key with it. If its been used then you're up shit creek. Theres a "I need a key" option which doesn't work.
Oh forgive me, I misread. That is seriously such a flawed system. It forces you to go to pirate/no-cd crack sites to circumvent unfair lockouts. Firstly, if the customer has never played the game before and buys it used only to run into this, he will either. . . A. Download a crack. + If it is the person's first time, they would be subjected to pirate sites just having to get it (most likely). B. Lose the cash they payed, have a dud game. Loss of interest to purchase it again new. C. Lose faith in some companies adamant use of lockouts, such as forced online. D. All of the above.
I am sure capcom will argue that by logging on, it proves you have a legit copy rather then some arsehole pirate who downloads it to play the single player game. But any good pirate will have a crack that will bypass the signing in requirement.
It's a piece of piss to crack the game. I've just done it so I can save but I imagine its nothing more than obtaining an iso, mounting it and then switching the files. Because that's all I had to do to get my legit copy running. The game is used. Unless I'm logged into a live account I can;t save the game, but I can play it. CD-Key is one time usage and links to the live account. The crack tricks the game into thinking its logged into a live account. Crapcom are just full of shit.
The experience IS superior when you aren't being fucked over by companies. Dead Rising 2 is actually really well optimized (atleast in my experience, it runs like a beast for me). You don't even play modern consoles. You just sit around with a Saturn (no shit to the saturn users, it's cool but you can't comment on the state of gaming currently without owning a current console) shit talking everything and buying crap clone handhelds when you could buy the originals or emulate it for cheaper current hardware. Neo Geo X case in point.
Thank god for the hackers making cracks of these games for those with used copies and other what-not...
That's what you get. You shouldn't have bought the game used. You didn't give Capcom your money, so they have every right to restrict you from their game. You're the reason we have DRM in the first place. People like you are killing the industry... ...says every 13 year old pseudo-intellectual on the internet.
^ Here I was about to open a can of Whoop Ass until I saw the last line. Completely agree there. God I hate those young dumb asses that think they know it all... Took me 23 years to realize you learn something new every day. Here I learned the big companies are trying to fuck us over with the DRM bullshit. That isn't the way to stop piracy. Surely those big-wigs have some one smart enough to do more than go around saying "Yep, this'll work." that they can put on the problems. Gotta work on the problem to fix it, not go around it with quick fixes.
I recently read an article on how piracy can't be stopped... Where is it... http://www.forbes.com/sites/insertc...r-kill-piracy-and-piracy-will-never-kill-you/ Ah. You didn't take any massive profit from them, you just copied what was already there. If you were forced to buy the game, maybe you would have just saved the money for something else and avoided paying Capcom in the first place. I recently bought a used game, but it worked perfectly- Some guy was selling Far Cry 3, on steam for $40 bucks quick sale. I PayPal'ed, he gifted the game, I played the game. Couldn't be simpler. What I don't get is why we can't do that with physical copies of games.
