The Propeller arena thread

  1. Competition Time :smt023

Ok, so as with HalfLife and Beats of Rage, some cheeky git is inevitably gonna start selling PA on Ebay, probably with covers you guys made. And we'll report his cheeky monkey ass, so he can become someone's 'shower bitch'.

So, if everyone picks a date starting from 2weeks time (about when PA is gonna be public released?), and if you pick the date that some cheeky git starts selling **Super Rare - PA - DC - L@@K!!!** on Ebay, you win a ltd edition copy of the game. Or some other prize.

What you think, just for a laugh?

Made the spine card to go with the Japanese style Propeller Arena covers today. Now it looks just like what the original would have been like.

Hey, if servicegames sends the game sealed, perhaps I decide to keep it unopened lol
    Excellent work, yakumo ;)

Whats the point of keeping it sealed if its just a freaking bootleg?
    :smt043 some of you guys

  6. Yakumo, are the spine cards going to be included as part of the packaging? Barring that, is there any way they will be made available for us to download and print out to complete our copies? :smt040

No, the spine cards will not be made by Service Games. He has far too much on his plate with doing loads of front, back and CD covers :prayer: I made this one for myself personally. If you'd like to use it then feel free. Here it is along with an English version for those that don't want the Japanese text. The versions pictured below are only 72dpi with High compression. The links below are for the 200dpi versions at 329kb with no compression.

Sorry guys, have to edit this post. Remember Keven's rules regarding this game or any ISO.

Don`t flame me for this and I hope it doesn`t get anyone into trouble...

    "spotted on ************

you`ll need a bittorrent client to download it - i`d recommend Azureus
which can be found on sourceforge (open source software site)"

I dont think posting a link to supernova is technically against the rules, but I deleted your pt.2 thread seeing as you posted the same thing here.

It's on supernova indeed, but there has been some debate if this is the real thing or just some fake release, i've been trying to download it to see if it's the real thing but the speeds on this torrent is verry low.

This could be seen as a good thing because it would mean that it will takes days before the first people have the full download so that the people who donated to teh release will have their copy's before the rest of the world.

I'm afraid it's real... Belokk and Lostuse discovered that someone was leaking it out on an IRC channel... they decided to immediately go ahead with the public release in order to stop some lame unauthorized copy with no proper NFO file etc. from spreading much further. That means I was given green light - no, I was practically shouted at :p - to put it up on suprnova (as I also have had a copy for a few days now, kind of a long story). In the meantime they're releasing the proper multipart rar archive via FXP and IRC and presumably newsgroups. (I released the exact same .cdi image but packed into a single .rar, plus .nfo file)
None of us really like it, but when the more or less inevitable happened, we figured: which is better? An early public release, or an unauthorized leaked copy spreading around like wildfire, with someone taking all the credits for themselves? :smt009

  15. Silverbolt, you are pirating my image without giving credit!! :smt043

After noticing that Da1m0n posted before I got finished, I should state that the brunt of my infinite anger that rages with the fire of a thousand red giant stars is directed towards those who saw fit to leak the unauthorized copies.

I have to say that I am just completely infuriated over some peoples' greed and lack of consideration. Granted, Service Games does not own the content of the PA GD, however, he was under no obligation to release it to the community at all, but he did, albeit under certain "terms". These terms were simple. To people that helped offset the cost monetarily, they would recieve the chance to play the game before the leechers, and would recieve professionally made cases along with it. The general public would not be denied the release of this game, they would just have to wait a few weeks after the people who actually deserved the game got theirs.

I guess I don't see what the real problem is here.

The way I see it, there are some people who are greedy and self-centered enough to be saying, "You know what, @#$% this crap, and @#$% you chumps who released this game, we think we deserve this so lets release it to everyone right now! And screw you chumps that paid for the covers too, we don't care if you should have this before us, we want it now."

So it really comes down to some people being too greedy to wait 3 more weeks, thinking they are entitled to something they did nothing to help with, people who frankly don't give a shit about people other than themselves. Thanks for killing Christmas, asshats. The excitement of recieving my paid-for package has now been halved by the knowledge that I can find it on bittorrent, IRC, or for a fee on eBay from one of you who is no-doubt selling it as "RARE PROPELLA ARENA UNRELEASED." Thanks again.

If there is any other possibility of getting unreleased games for dreamcast, I'll not donate money. I helped in this project economically to get a game for all community, but it seems that there is too much stupid people who only wants the "glory"? of putting his name in a nfo file, (and I'm sure he didn't pay nothing). Next time, I think less people will spend money to bring us new games for dreamcast...

  19. This is sadly probably true, but please don't let this occurrance keep you from helping to support future releases. Who's to say that without the support of the community and the willingness of so many people to pitch in some money, Service Games might not have bought the GD and it wouldn't be nearly in our hands today? Maybe if a similarly large project like this comes up again, those of us who are really passionate about getting the game released can take a more hands-on part in the entire thing to guarantee the security of the project.

But please don't let the actions of a few greedy and self-serving individuals destroy your support for future unreleased games.
