At this time there are no other colours. A white one would certainly be nice. Anything to hide the prints. =(
In their promotional mateials, they have all sorts of "wonderfull" colours, could really bolster sales if they made it readily available in all sorts of hue's.
You could call it ULTIMATE MEGA DISC!! but somehow, given the whole lack of a shutter, I don't think it would be too "mega". Saw your article linked from somewhere else - I think it was mrmonkeyman.com - today, and I must say I'm rather disappointed in what appears to be horribly shoddy construction quality on the PSP. I'm very happy with my DS and most likely won't pick up a PSP for QUITE some time (i.e. a few price drops) but it would have been nice for Sony to make a strong showing and force Nintendo to really innovate on the DS. And yes, both the PSP and DS were supposed to have different colors - I remember there were a LOT of promotional images showing a really sexy iPod-like white PSP. The DS I can feel in my bones that they are going to come out with some fun color variations - either here or in Japan - in less than 3 months time that will make me despise my plain old platinum one. :smt009
Great review, this only confirms what i've read so far that the build quality of the PSP is right up there with the PS2 :-(
Me too. Not only there are some funny things there, they also seem love the Beast, aka Sega Saturn :-D
Good review as always. However, I don't see how the build quality is that bad (not directed at your review, Lawrence, but at the comments on this thread). I don't know about you, but I don't usually twist the controller while I'm playing. Also in every PSP review I've read the author has said that the buttons take a while to break in. The only thing that really seems like shoddy design is the placement of the analog controller, which is way too low on the unit. Oh well, good thing I've always preferred digital control :drinkers: About that review though, what do you mean by this: ?
The thing about how you take the disc out is sony's ploy to make sure the discs get scratched up to the point you have to buy a new copy. Its ingenious.
If you push straight down on the pad it doesn't hit the LCD, but when you're actually USING IT, your thumb slides around and the d-pad itself shifts a little. This shifting pushes it far enough that it no longer clears the LCD.
good that we got them in dozens at work =) you dont wanna know where i work... heres a little hint: i think i get a psp at europe release just to do a glove photo in cleanroom for this article :-D btw. did anyone notice if dust can get under the lcd ? cause i have this problem at my portable videoplayer maybe psp can have the same but time will tell
Nice review I still can't decide if I want one, but looks like hackers are going to come up with some awesome stuff for the psp. Also for the games they announced to far they sux to me. I have a DS and love it and I see tons of games that i'm looking foward to for the DS unlike the PSP. They both have nice features and will be a close compettion between the two which will make them both work harder and bring more stuff to table. March is going to be crazy for the DS and PSP.
The psp has two kick ass games already...Metal Gear Acid(see videos at IGN to see how this game looks so cool) and Ridge Racers. This review is a tad unfair against the machine i think. The Psp is certainly worth 20,000 yen, and the umd media is only in those cases to stop it from being damaged on the go and to help to protect it against piracy.Otherwise how do you stop getting prints on your gc and ps2 discs...by being careful, so stop moaning. :smt014
Nice review. One thing thoug: Isn't Aquos the best selling High Vision Ekishou TV in Japan at the moment?
