I'd never heard about Yamato in that context, until I read that page.
    Guess I learned something today!

W/ Japan/Japanese, you learn something new ever day. I had lived in Japan well over a year until I realized the conbini chain "Sankusu" is really "Thanks".

You never knew that? Bloody hell. that was one of the first things my old girlfriend told me.

Here's a quiz. What do the red upsidedown triangles on buildings in Japan denote?

I was told it was for fire and rescue teams to break so they could enter the building in an emergency, something about it being near parts of the building with strengthened walls or stairs or something.

I remember when I lived in Tokyo 8 years ago. We'd go out on the piss and end up walking home from the likes of Shibuya to Naka Meguro.

Shibuya to Nakameguro? That's a 45 minute walk tops... probably 30. Don't hurt yourself.

Nakano to Akihabara being the best part of 3 and a half hours at a brisk pace...

Anyway this is a real sign I saw in my travels across Tokyo, it is a real sign and it has two bits of text, some Japanese at the top and some English at the bottom. Anyone want to hazard a guess at what the English part said? :)

About the triangle... We had a safety seminar when I was at Nova and they told us the red triangles were where people were supposed to go in case they can't exit a building in the event of a fire. The fire station is supposed to go to those areas to look for people to rescue. Naturally it's probably because of what others said, but I only knew about it from the standpoint of the people inside the building.

Jamtex: It looks like an adult breaking up two kids fighting. So, either: Hey, kids! No fighting! (For great justice!...) or Parents: hold on to/control your kids.

oh yeah, only two stops on the Hibya line. Where the hell was I staying that time? Could have been Nishi OGikabo in my mates place? It took us about 3 hours to get back.

Actually Toyoko line. The Hibiya-line (a subway that goes above ground for Nakameguro) bypasses Shibuya and goes to Ebisu. FYI, just before Nakamguro on the Hibiya line was where one car derailed and flew into the oncoming train. Before the Osaka incident, that was the only fatal train wreck I had heard of in decades... at least of people dying on the inside.

just confirmed the ones of our windows in the building which is 消防隊進入口 written on, which means "entry for fire brigade". so either you watch it from the outside or the inside, it will be an exit where firefighter can enter the building and rescue locked in people.
