http://www.joystiq.com/2010/10/21/give-sonic-fan-remix-a-spin/ And they're complaining about the art style. http://forums.sonicretro.org/index.php?showtopic=19981&st=45 For once, it's neither a rom hack or a retarded flash game. I don't get what's their beef with this fangame.
Mother of god. This game looks amazing. Of course, it's a given that Sonic fans are retarded, considering how they keep the cycle going.
Ive played this on maxed out specs and it runs smooth. motion blur on this game just kills it though.
Uhhh...surprise? The remaining Sonic "fanbase" is composed of furries and retards...oh wait, that's redundant. Anyway, this looks cool, downloading.
The funny thing is, if that was a shitty looking Sonic Rush style DS game, the fans would be ejaculating all over each other on their way to the front desk of a Gamestop to preorder--with their Knuckles plushies in one hand, and cock in the other. Just slap a racoon tail on Sonic+ give him abnormally large cat hands and the goddamn game will sell 5x as many copies as both Shenmue games combined. Rest in peace, Sega.
Running @ 1680x1050 with the quality set to fantastic on the Mac Pro and it looks absolutely incredible. Just finished my third run through and I'm very very impressed. Hopefully we'll see a release of the whole game before Sega shut the project down. :cur_sonic:
THIS deserved a topic? Opinions will always be split, the very first post of where you linked approved of the graphics even. I wouldn't take the people that don't like it and say that it represents the whole Sonic fandom. Not being too fair. ...even if they are all furries
If it really looks that good I would think Sega would want to shut them down pretty quick. Wouldn't want your fans to make a better Sonic game than you right? The screenshots looked pretty.
I find hilarious that some fans created a better game than what Sega has being doing for more than a decade. It just proves Sega is just a name these days, just like Atari. It's a famous brand name that ends up hiding the name of the real developer. There's no talent, passion or even intelligence there to make a great game. Congrats for the dev of this fan game to show Sega how lazy they are.
From that second link in the OP: lol. You have no idea what repulsive means, do you? Inferior to the 2D sprites and backgrounds of the first game, sure. But certainly not "repulsive". It's one of the best looking Sonic games to come out in recent years, official or unofficial. And Johnny I'm with you 100%.
The game is excellent by retail standards, let alone for a fan project. I hope these guys are given a chance on the real thing, they've earned it.
The people on Retro that are saying the graphics look like shit need to shut up. They should say they don't like the style because no matter what you say the art work is amazing work. The only disappointment I have with the game is that it doesn't work on my netbook. I guess my desktop runs it at highest settings at 1280x720 or mid settings at 1920x1080.
When I saw the trailer with my friends we were shocked by its awesomeness expecially since it's a fanmade game. And so I thought that all Sonic fans would have the same positive reaction. Ha! How naive of me! There will be always some retards haters who will whine about everything. I hope Sega won't stop this project just like SquareEnix did with the Chrono Trigger fanmade 3D remake. If they do, there will be definitely lots of raged fans. And furries...
I think I would have liked to have seen completely new areas instead of the "re-imagined" Emerald Hill, but this is much closer in line to what I was hoping for with Sonic 4. Echoing statements above, the actual Sonic 4 looks like the fan project when compared with this. *shakes head*
The game, for a fan effort, is really fucking superb. Slap a $10 price tag on it and I'd buy it, far better than the tripe Sega has put out in years past. I have some gripes with a few sound effects and how Sonic looks a bit oddly static when standing around as well as the ball graphic used for his jumping but they are hardly deal breakers from what is stated above.
