This thing really is kick-ass. The only real complaint I have is the amount of foreground clutter, which can make it hard to see where you're going...plus they could make the enemies stand out better. But as far as the physics go, they really nailed it. Sega should fire Dimps' collective asses and hire these guys instead.
I wonder if SEGA will ever notice this. I think at least IGN should cover this to give the people the credit they deserve plus, embarace SEGA publicly for their inability to spot talent.
It needs reprogramming. the game is far to hungry for power. My 2.8Gh won't even run it smooth on the lowest settings.
oddly it runs best in fantastic for me on my system than any other setting. I have a Core 2 Duo 2.93 with 4GB DDR2 @1066 RAM running Win7 64bit on a 4850based ATI 512MB VRAM display device. For measurement, it can run most games at fully playable speed on the highest settings.
hmm, what's up here then. Time to check my graphics card. I hope it's not on it's way out. I never play games on the PC anyway apart from emulation.
make sure u have everything else closed. Closing the browser for example does make a difference in the framerate's consistency.
2.8ghz P4? P4s were never good CPUs even new. Probably time to upgrade a bit. My Pentium Dual-Core (Core2duo class) at 2.4ghz and a Radeon HD 4850 play it smoothly.
I believe that sonic fans are divided between the fans of the old classic games, and those that started playing the series after 3D, specially after heroes which is when the franchise turned into a pokemon wannabe. That last group is by far the largest (how many would keep playing only 5 games that were released over 16 years ago anyways?) they are the ones that dislike the classic games because there was little story, characters and overall furry kawaii stuff if you ask me. For them, this Rebirth/remake game with its 90 looks and colors must be awful. For me its back to basics, no complaints.
The second group is exactly what I mean by the remaining Sonic "fanbase", people who post on cesspools like GameFAQs and actually care about the storylines of Sonic games. It seems like normal people have stopped caring about new (3D) Sonic games a long time ago, for example, the people who run/ran The GHZ seem to have given up on the series somewhere around Heroes or so.
Personally the only 3D Sonic games I have played are Sonic Heroes (which was ok but with few annoying bugs and camera/control issues) and Sonic and the Secret Ring (for few minutes only since the control SUCKS). I would give Sonic Unleashed a try if it wasn't for the boring werewolf stages. So I have a little hope for Sonic Color at Wii. As about the 2D games after Sonic&Knukles the only games I like a lot were Sonic Rush and Sonic Rush Adventure.
Surprise! Sonic fans want exactly the same thing, but prettier! The only reason this makes the news is because of how it looks. I'm sure there are more fangames with classic physics that no one cares about. The guys from Unity will sure love it when they realise they have become the prefered Sonic fan game maker tool.
I guess so but my PC can play Half Life 2 just fine. It actually came with the graphics card. Maybe I should update.
Yeah I know, in fact I used to go to sonic cult before they went down. Play Adventure 2, its far from perfect but even when its 9 years old its still the best 3D sonic game ever made. The same can be said about fans from FF, MGS, GTA, Unreal, almost every MMORPG, etc... Only in a few ocassions were better graphics part of a quantum leap in gameplay, like HL2.
Just realised there was a Mac version. Wow, I'm impressed. I agree with the badniks needing to stand out a little more but other than that it's awesome.
