There's 4 roms and the story is a private collector passed away and they ended up in a Hokkaido shop. I cannot tell if this is legitimate but it's believable
Theres 2 versions for each. Debug and non debug

I recall my early online days, back in 1997, and looking for RE 1.5 and Pokemon Silver /Gold was among my frequent research quests. And it seems two of my most prized odysseys, have been completed!

This gives me slightly more hope for a build of Twelve Tales: Conker 64 to leak.

...it's not gonna happen is it.

This does give hope to those waiting for their holy grail protos. This was definitely one of mine, It's hard to bring myself to even boot this up. I'm so giddy, haven't got past the 1997 copyright yet, it's just..so amazing to see.
This definitely gives me hope for some of the lost VB protos to surface.

Why are so many people so excited about this particular proto? Just wondering because I've never seen the fun in Pokemon, I played it on the GBA in 2000 or so and found it incredibly boring. I've tried a couple of times since too.
It is cool to see things like this pop up of course..

The builds are super early and a whole two years before final release. Pokemon is also one of the largest franchises out there. I'm not sure why you're even asking if you're gonna point out you don't even like it. I'm could care less about something like Propeller Arena but even I could appreciate that being leaked for DC years back since it was always considered a holy grail of protos.

I dunno who the original owner was, but RIP. This isn't the first time I've heard of a JP collector who passed away and their protos ended up elsewhere. It's sort of a miracle they ended up in the hands of someone who got word back to foreigners. I have hope this inspires more people to share their stuff someday. Without a doubt there's lots of stuff in private collections that will meet the same fate of ending up being sold off by relatives that don't know any better, and you can bet not all of those will end up like these Pokemon protos did.

Woah, looks like at least 95% of the front pics of the pokemons were redone/updated
    https://tcrf.net/Proto:pokémon_Gold_and_Silver/Pokémon

unless they came from previous episodes? (i have no idea, never played much pokaymon games)

and around #160 the drawings seem to be of different pokemons. did they switch positions or came up with brand new monsters?

Pokemon hasn't been fairly relevant for 20 years because nobody likes it.

Tell that to every 3DS owner that has bought each version of each newly released Pokemon game. I don't understand the hype either, it's incredibly boring - not as much as regular JRPGs, but still.

I played them when I was younger, the collecting aspect as a kid was fun as shit. I got out of it after gold/silver, but this proto surfacing brings out some crazy nostalgia and is super interesting to me.

Well pointed out I don't like the game because that is the reason I don't understand why you are all go nuts over it. Like I said, it's cool when stuff like this pops up.
More constructive replies below yours help me understand, it's more fun for kids than adults, I was 22 by the time I first tried Pokemon.

Hey, just giving you a reply that's no more constructive than coming in a thread telling people that you don't get why anyone should care and you find it boring.

the reality is that many of us no longer play pokemon as adults but will always have fond memories about playing it as a child.
when red/blue came out our school playground was filled with people on their gameboys all playing and trading, it was so much fun and there was something magical.

this is a great release for sure

I wasn't trying to be constructive, I was genuinely interested as for the reason so many people seem so excited about this release, hence me asking!

Because some people have been seeing these images nearly 20 years ago and always wanted to experience the demo themselves. Not long after showing this demo to the public, the developers at Game Freak decided to completely start over the project. That's why not a single place in that demo exists in the final games. There are also a lot of characters in there that were introduced to the public, but then never made it into the final games. Exciting stuff.
