    BEWARE

Beware: This new eXeem program contains spyware.

But someone already made a spyware-free Lite version, so If anyone wants to try it I suggest using the Lite version instead.

  2. Legit, you're going overboard on this. Linking to a torrent aggregator is not at all the same as posting a direct link to a warez file - in fact, it's no different than linking to Google, as you can find things for both good and evil on there as well. We're no longer hosted by ROAR, so the "x clicks" rule is no longer in effect; the rule as it stands is no direct linking.

Also, the claim that just because something is P2P makes it illegal is just assinine, and you sound no better than organizations like the RIAA and MPAA. Aside from the good examples of P2P above like the WOW distribution system, Valve's beautiful content delivery system Steam is a variation on the Bittorrent idea, and there's also the new Napster (even though they sold out).

With that said, I'm interested in the site/software that this thread was originally started about, so if someone could PM me the details, I'd appreciate it. :smt023

  4. So does anyone know how secure these programs are in terms of prying eyes? The fact that they are not fully decentralized has me a bit put off, as their servers could conceivably be subpeonaed by vengeful organizations. Has anyone heard if they are taking nessicary steps to prevent this?

I would imagine after having his Suprnova site shut down that the eXeem creator would be rather wary, but I can't find mention of it anywhere.

If you haven't heard already eXeem installs adware, Cydoor.

this program sucks...it was all hype.

also it has potential to be the network with the most fake files, just by the way it works.

its a crappy program that crashes, has fake files, has cydoor, crappy gui, spyware, did I mention fake files? The program just got released and its alreadys stuffed with fake files.

So pretty much, the owner of Suprnova got greedy and screwed his audience, therefore his whole own project, in the arse.

What a greedy fucker. He gave up a pretty good site to release yet another failed spyware ridden piece of crapware. I really hope he invested a lot into it, too.

    Serves him right.

is not him, is another company, he closed because the riaa was after torrent sites.

  9. Yeah, it's true, eXeem Lite is just another shitty P2P application in the long line of subpar ones following Kazaa Lite - WinMX, eDonkey/Mule, etc. all suffering from random crashes and shitty speeds. :smt009

Looks like I'll just stay with IRC.

  11. Now THAT will make a person willingly beat themselves in the junk with a brick... :angry

"Awesome, they have the file I want!! ....Except it's split into 300 parts. And only 25-172 are posted."

Now there is the fatal flaw, having to pay, whereas IRC is free.

I find that using Ares is ok for most things. Just not games...

  15. Meh, it's not quite like that... Sloncek gets employed by Swarm Systems Inc. to become their PR guy for their new P2P application, mainly because of Sloncek's reputation from Suprnova. Sloncek closes Suprnova so he can give the new eXeem program a boost, really simple as that. eXeem is riding the Suprnova hype, that's why Swarm Systems hired him.

  16. Actually, Suprnova was shut down by a MPAA order.
