Sonic the hedgehog 2 Animal Crossing Cubivore: survival of the fittest Mario kart double dash Super smash bros melee
Sonic 2 was one of those games that signified perfection to me back in the day. Sonic the Hedgehog was such an amazing game at the time but Sonic 2 was everything and more, having a refined engine, more responsive controls, enhanced graphics and sound, larger and more vibrant level design, etc. These kinds of games were really some of the most iconic games from my time. But Sonic 2 didn't go in my top 5 just because it wasn't quite as relevant to me as a game player in my childhood, the Zelda games were some of the games I played the most as a child and were part of some of my fondest memories, so they were prioritised first purely because of how relevant they were to me.
I'm really not sure which games defined it, i had no games till i was 6, then i got my GameBoy, i got with it Tetris, Super Mario Land and Mega Man, so i guess those, i also still call this the best Christmas i've ever had, and one of my ultimate childhood memories, and it started a lifelong obsession, i also got Metroid 2 with it, but i hated it. I'd also have to add Donkey Kong Land and the first generation Pokemon games to the list, i'm really not sure which is my favorite. I'm not sure if i should have counted, but my early youth was defined by games such as Tony Hawks, Final Fantasy 8, Quake 3 Arena, Half Life, and Mario Kart 64, i'm aware that it's one of the worst in the franchise, but i just really enjoyed playing against my cousin. Well, not sure if it counts as childhood.
1. Doom 1/2 2. Duke Nukem 3d 3. Command and Conquer 4. Sonic 2 5. Dune 2 If that doesnt scream PC gamer I dont know what will.
Games that really stick out for me - at different times of my childhood Mario Bros / Duck hunt Zelda a link to the past Fifa 94 (I think it was 94 may have been 95,96,97.....!) Wolfenstein 3D tetris - gb
Jumpman, Sword of Fargoal/Temple of Apshai, Infocom Adventures, Sonic the Hedgehog, Super Mario Brothers 3
I was a child of the 90s, mostly second half I grew up with, so these five games were always on top of my list! And of course I still love them! Yoshi's Island Mario Kart 64 Bomberman 64 Banjo-Kazooie Pokémon (Yellow) I also absolutely loved Sonic, Earthworm Jim, Kirby and Zelda games, but there's only place for 5...
1. Super Smash Bros. 2. Street Fighter 2 Turbo 3. Super Mario 64 4. F-Zero X 5. GoldenEye 007 I believe that these are the top 5 games that I spent the most amount of hours playing during my childhood. My friends and I used to play Super Smash Bros. every week for years. We probably put a couple thousand hours into that game. I played Street Fighter 2 Turbo probably at least every weekend from 5th grade and into high school. I easily put over 1000 hours into that game. I think I put over 500 hours into Super Mario 64, close to 300 hours into F-Zero X, and my friends and I would always play GoldenEye 007 before we got into Super Smash Bros., so at least a couple hundred hours were put into that game.
Those are my most played games on my childhood. Mostly because with every new console I had just only one or two games. Nemesis (MSX) Magical Tree (MSX) Sonic 2 (Megadrive) Rise of the Triad (PC) Halo (Xbox)
Street Fighter 2 Secret of Mana Final Fantasy 6 [3] Tony Hawk Pro Skater Chrono Trigger I would say are the games that would stick the most for me, man you wouldn't believe the amount of time I ploughed into SF2 [Arcade & SNES] back in the day! My mate and I used to spend at least an hour a day on it for a couple of years.
That's so hard to decide, maybe: Resident Evil 2 Unreal Tournament Tomb Raider 2 Grand Theft Auto 1 Half-Life But they are all contenders, for me they all deserve to be number 1. Others that should be there personally are Star Wars Dark Forces II: Jedi Knight, Super Mario World, Mario Kart 64, Metal Warriors, all the goddamn Quake games, Power Stone 2, Stunts, Doom, Sonic 2 & 3, Super Bomberman, even Ice Climbers. So fond memories.
The games that defined my childhood would be Mega Man 2 Super Mario 3 Kung Fu Super Mario World RC Pro-AM
