This guy posted a video about real and fake Coolrunner chips. It's very interesting.
And he has a great channel with tons of tutorials.

Interesting since the clone chips only cost a few dollars and seem to work just as well especially since the RGH1.2 has come out for Phats with RGH1 boot times using RGH2 only consoles.

I think pretty much everyone already knew this, though - the TX board had exactly the same CPLD on it as the clones, and there was no real reason that they should work any worse.

Very interesting video. RGH was after I left the xbox scene though, but I was really happy to find out about it because JTAG was like 1000x more difficult haha.

I personally use the ACE V1 on a 4gb Corona V6. It usually instaboots, but it takes no more than 3 cycles to boot.
I'm very happy with the quality, but the price and availability is the main thing that made me get it anyway.

tbh the only real difference i have noticed with clones vs genuine xecuter stuff is sloppy solder work on the clones meaning DOA units are more common and sometimes slower boot times, but imho the genuine xecuter ones where over priced and the only real positive was the support forums.

but even the forums are a bit of a "cult of xecuter"....don't get me wrong i know they want to sell their product and i disagree with the clones just using the xecuter brand, they should of done themselves a favor and made their own brand and done away with the hostilities and they would of been better off for it, i think for most people price and availability trumps antagonistic mods and aggressive sales tactics (i.e "you may have a genuine coolrunner, and even though the error is definitely down to the coolrunner because you used a different branded nand flasher well FU!"), for the majority of people getting something fast and cheap with the occasional bad DOA is a small price to pay for a more realistically priced product

I know what you mean with DOA. I have an ACE V1 and the crystal was poorly soldered in and the console only occasionally booted. Had to reflow the chip with a fan and now it's working perfectly.
If you buy from Ebay or Aliexpress, it is worth to risk getting a DOA unit, because you will get a refund anyway.

I am very impressed with the clone Matrix V3 I bought off Ebay, it's well made and soldering is good, for $4.00 usd they are a bargain, it boots fast (nearly all instaboots) with RHG1.2 and better than spending $40.00 on a CR4 XL and fiddling around with R-Jtag.
