So the CC3C had some great talks, one of them is about the Gameboy. Michael Steil is known for his full fledged in-depth talks about a specific hardware. I can highly recommend his other talks too. More talks from the CC3C here https://media.ccc.de Hope you enjoy it as I do. Cheers!
Very good content, thanks for sharing, only complaint is it looks like he went for a run before talking (never understood what's the rush when having 60 minutes).
I wish I could have seen a such video few years ago, when I was trying to develop on gameboy. This guy is indeed speaking too fast so it is a bit confusing for a non English native, but there is a ton of very interesting informations ! The small talk about the Super Gameboy makes me remember that I own a prototype of the PAL version of the Super Gameboy 2. Will try to have a look at the board.
Yeah he was rushing it in the beginning. Glad he went a little slower towards the end. Taking the Gameboy Camera around the world made me strangely happy Edit: stupid typos.
haha yes, if I had got the idea few monthes back, I would have took my GB camera with me as I was travelling for business 11 monthes a year.
A friend of mine did an exhibition in Manchester a few months ago, where along with her colleagues they showcased hundreds of pictures they'd taken with the GB camera. Didn't go since I'm in Dublin, but it looked quite fun. Again, too bad the talk was so rushed, but the content was really great, the guy knows his stuff and can present it quite nicely too.
You have to be fast to fit in this much content. It's a really dense (that's "packed", not "stupid" ) talk, precise and clear, yet also entertaining. Also note how he touched on a lot of subjects, giving you just enough information to be able to read up on things if desired, but without losing himself in details. This dude's an extremely skilled presenter imho. Lookin' forward to the Ultimate SNES and Atari ST talks...
Great talk! I don't mind the fast pace, everything is well explained. This is obviously a talk for people who already know about how machines work so most people who watch it should be able to understand what he is talking about.
