I think it has more to do with sensibility rather than racism.

In fact, in early version of my emulator software, I add a "/JAP" command line parameter, and one Japanese guy e-mailed me about it and asked if I could change it to "/JP" or "/JPN", because he felt "sad" about "/JAP". I didn't understood his request back in the time, now I understand it better.

How a part of your countries name can be insulting to anybody is beyond my understanding.It's like the great idea calling a black guy black would be somehow insulting,so let's call him colored.The same kind of bs ;-)

Ok, I'm completely pissed at the moment and can't be arsed to read the whole thred.

Now, my wife is a so called JAP as some say. The words may not be racist but the way they are used by the masses indicates a racist comment. Now my wife really pisses my off many time. Like now. that's why I'm in this internet cafe at 1;52am. Anyway, I still would write JPN when addressing Japan even though the one I'm married too pisses my off to no end. It's just like saying WOG, NIGGER, FROG, COON and so on (Please note that I'm not called anyone these name) I know that people will use the term JAP forever but just take a look at an international sports even and see how japan is written. The UK is GB and America is USA and Japan is JPN. So it must be wrong to use the word JAP if they won't use it on TV.

A few months ago a North Korean mupet called the Japanese JAPS in a world conference. The shock of everyone (not only the Japanese) was astounding. For those who don't know, North Korea hate Japan. That could be because they are all fucked up brainwashed nobodies though :smt019
