Jesus, I've never owned a 360 so I never knew but that's ridiculous. Sounds like a washing machine with stones in at one point as well.

Well it's not the 360 booting up it's actually the 360 connecting to XBOX live. Which takes forfuckingever

That sound you hear is the DVD drive reading the disc. One reason why I install everything on to the HD.

My god! And i thought that the PS3 XMB was slow. Compared to that it's ultra fast!

Mine's one of the newest Slims, with a 250gb HD, and yeah that is slow. Maybe an internet thing?

Around half a minute for mine. I wonder if it has to do with what profile it is loading (mine is pretty bare, I've only ever played a handful of games on my 360 since I just got it a few months ago...), or perhaps as it has been mentioned before: internet connection relations...

It shouldn't be since I have a 100mbps line. My PC can be booted and running firefox with a full 1080p stream from Hulu before the 360 even let's me start a game. So it's defiantly not an internet connection unless Microsoft Japan have a really shitty system. The thing is, ever since the new craptastic Metro style front end it's been slow. Before this Metro crap I never had a problem.

GOH and alecjhan, how big is your profile? I have about 130 games on mine. Do you think this could be the reason why it takes forever? Still, if that was the case then why was it faster before the Metro frontend?

I have a few hundred games on my profile. I'm pretty sure the load time is due to logging into XBOX live there have been times it's taken almost 2 minutes for me to log on lately it hasn't. Maybe try cleaning out your system cache?

You know it may be Microsoft Japan not having enough servers, given the Xbox's low install base there.

Or maybe they're just subtly telling you to get a slim.

Its the connection to xbox live, as mentioned above.

I have about the same amount of games on my profile and it boots in about 25-30 seconds.

Mines boots fairly quickly even when connecting to Live and that's an original premium (The 20gb no HDMI model)

I would turn off auto-login, and then sign in whilst your game is booting - especially if you are streaming your content off a home server as it doesn't require a login to use.

I would expect its to do with either a low-install base meaning they don't have many servers in Japan or that it has to connect to the US servers (which would be slower than usual).
