    @Lamont
I wouldn't bother with Hannibal Rising. Pretty disappointing prequel if you ask me.

Ah, I've already seen them and you're right about that. That said, the music wasn't too bad from what I can recall of the score from when I saw it. I've not seen Manhunter out of all of the Hannibal films as of yet. My father on the other hand hasn't seen the film Hannibal, if I am correct now that we've covered Red Dragon.

He hasn't read the novels in comparison so the ending of season 2 of the Hannibal television show left him a little bit confused but watching Red Dragon helped him connect the dots a little bit better. Somehow he's gone this long without someone spoiling Red Dragon on him.

... I really need to lend him my copies but if I do then I probably won't get them back for another few years like some of the other novels he took a liking to.

And actually, I need to find some more thrillers or horror movies to watch. Seeing as we have a similar view on Hannibal Rising, any recommendations mate?

    Television Shows

Also watching Sleepy Hollow, Falling Skies and am currently waiting on season 2 of Les Revenants and the next season of The Walking Dead.

For a thriller, I would say Red Eye. It was directed by horror guru Wes Craven. Has Rachel McAdams and Cillain Murphy (sp?). Also I would consider the movie Insidious as more of a thriller. That's a pretty good one. Or give Mulholland Drive a shot. If you don't mind a little predictability, Vacancy was also pretty cool.

For horror I'm always gonna recommend Jacob's Ladder, although you're likely to have already seen that one. I also highly recommend [REC] 1 and 2. Way better than their US counterparts, Quarantine 1 and 2. Or VHS 1 and 2, if you like anthology horror.

Ah, I've not seen Red Eye as of yet. The others I have seen and have copies of, aside from the two VHS ones.

I'll probably go and see if I can find Red Eye to watch once I've finished re-watching Argento's Suspiria again. Shame that Mother of Tears was horrible as Inferno actually wasn't that bad.

Oh! I forgot a good one I think you would like. Martyrs, directed by Pascal Laguier. Pretty extreme French horror film.

Also! You seem like you would like Michael Hanake's films. He's a German director that handles disturbing subject matter. Funny Games was his only Americanized film, his others include Benny's Video, The Seventh Continent, White Ribbon, etc.

Any recommendations for me? I'm sure I'd get into them.

Recently watched and enjoyed: Cabin in the Woods... not your typical horror movie :)

Ah, those sound interesting. I'll have to check them out. I can understand French and German so watching them isn't an issue for me.

If you like South Korean films, I actually have a few of them.

    I would recommend:

The Truck (the antagonist of this film seems to be inspired by Hannibal).

Black House (based off the Japanese novel of the same name, I prefer this one over the Japanese film adaptation with how they handled the general detailing of what is a psychopath and given my enjoyment of survival horror games, I liked a sequence towards the end of the film).

Forbidden Floor is a ghost movie, it's a little older, being from 2006 but it's still quite decent.

Doll Master was fairly interesting, given this one and a couple of other similar films surrounding puppets or dolls I am quite interested to see how the Annabelle film turns out.

Deranged is a fairly decent parasitic infectious epidemic film, I liked the premise of it and it also reminded me somewhat of Kiseijuu/Parasyte, although lacking the mutations that are similar to Resident Evil's "plaga" enemies.

The Flu is another epidemic film, this one is essentially a deadly avian influenza strain that can cross-species infect and is fairly realistic to a scenario where people panic and improper containment measures are undertaken.

Red Eye (yes, this one has the same name as one you've recommended to me!), is a ghost movie that is quite interesting with how the ghosts resurface.

These ones aren't extreme but the atmosphere set in them is quite good. My personal favorites are the first two I've listed out of these ones. I have some more floating around the house that I'll have to grab the titles off of as I can't remember them all, sadly.

Cabin in the Woods was awesome. I was hoping that it would have revitalized the horror genre, but alas it did not. Maybe it was in development hell too long.

    @Lamont
I am going to give The Truck and Black House a shot then. I have the next 3 days off, so that will give me something to do. Do they demand attention, or would I be able to play let's say FFVI while I watch them?

Also, you're probably a fan of Takasha Miike I take it?

They're subtitled but you should be perfectly fine with it. There's only a couple of moments that you'd need to pay attention to and that's when they both begin to escalate. I was actually playing one of the Persona games when I saw both of the movies so you should be good to go mate.

I do like Takashi Miike's films as well.

Well, you can never go wrong with Ichi the Killer. I did also happen to particularly like Audition, can't go wrong with either of those two. I've yet to see his Ryū ga Gotoku Gekijōban/Yakuza: The Movie adaptation but I did particularly enjoy his Ace Attorney one. I'm not too familiar with the Yatterman anime but I did enjoy the movie regardless.

Just finished watching series 1 and 2 of Utopia, stunning cinematography; love the colours, tone and setting.

    Where is Jessica Hyde?

    Bump!

    Series I'm watching:

    • The Newsroom (pretty good if you set aside a bit how the glorify news reporters up to the point they seem like intelligence agents)
    • The Knick (also pretty good)
    • The Walking Dead (current season, meh)

About to start watching Sword Art Online II also.

    And movies I recently watched:

    The Wind Rises (Studio Ghibli)

I couldn't get into The Walking Dead. I mean, I did only watch one episode, so that might have something to do with it. Should I give it a shot? Does it jump the shark quickly?

Ehm.. the first season imho is great, only 6 episodes and quite good production quality.

The following seasons have not been that great really. Now it's starting to pick up a bit, but not very good either. One of the things I hated the most was how they started using "digital" shots and stabs, that's a bit lame.

Good thing is it diverts a bit from the comic book so the story is not exactly the same in every occasion.

Now I'm watching "O negocio" (The Business), an HBO Brazil production about prostitutes, very good so far, around 12 ep per season (season 2 has just finished).
