The "What are you watching?" Thread

Got tons backlogged, but the main show I'm currently watching is Stargate SG-1.... and so far, I'm not really enjoying it.

Don't get me wrong - I don't think it's bad, and there are some episodes that I genuinely think are fantastic, but the characters are very stereotypical, and there's a lot of stupidity in the show. Characters do dumb things, or they do things for no good reason and their explanations are "just because" IF they even have explanations.

I marathoned the entirety of Star Trek a few years ago and enjoyed the hell out of it. I just feel that it's a smarter show. Sure, there are some horrible Star Trek episodes, too, but I feel like Star Trek does more right than Stargate, at least so far. I still plan to watch the entirety of Stargate to give it a fair go (and then I'll get around to watching Firefly, Babylon 5 and Battlestar Galactica), but it's just not hitting home with me like Star Trek did. Still, Star Trek got me properly into sci-fi, a genre that I never really cared for, so I'm trying to watch all the major sci-fi shows before I start getting into something a little more niche. Although I DID watch Red Dwarf (I guess it's not really niche, though) and that was amazing. Season 11 this year!

Other than that, I need to watch Agent Carter and catch up on some Godzilla movies (and other tokusatsu). I will eventually get through my anime backlog, too (honourable mentions to Space Dandy, Baccano, J-Decker and GaoGaiGar).

Looking forward to having more models to build whilst I watch all this stuff. Makes it easier toys it still for hours on end.

 

How far in are you? The first season has some good lore, but isnt the best.

 

A handful (about four) episodes away from season six. I'm going to at least get to season six by the end of tonight.

 

Recently finished watching White Collar and Breaking bad. Both of them are my favourite TV shows of all time.
Now I'm watching the new season of Top Gear ( UK obviously )

I just finished Breaking Bad. Amazing show, fully satisfactory ending. Exactly the way it should have ended.

Just started Mike Judge's Silicon Valley. New favorite show. Hilarious, per usual for Mike Judge. With his work, you can always tell.

Anybody enjoying Better Call Saul?

 

Still slogging my way through Stargate. Am up to the middle of season eight for SG-1 which I still don't like, but have started Atlantis now, too, and that is a good show. It's so much more Star Trek (particularly DS9) than Stargate, and in my opinion, that's only a good thing.

 

Just got the Hyperdimension Neptunia anime yesterday, and they did a pretty good job on using most of the original voice actors from the games.

Orange is the new black season 3 just got released.

I love that series, apart from maybe the last season when it got a bit alien-heavy with Scully being pregnant and whatever. Have to dig out my box set soon....
