but you re forgetting that every new idea, even the original PlayStation sold more than it deserved at the start - it was later on that the really big titles hit and coloured the outline of success.
Amazing words, my friend. It applies very accurately to the PS1 and (I soon hope) the Wii. Sometimes, I just revel in the Wii's runaway success, if only to laugh at those who are shitting bricks because HOW COULD AN UNCONVENTIONAL CONSOLE TAKE THE LEAD SO FASTgauhj BY NINTENDO NONETHELESS THE COMPANY WAS SUPPOSED TO DIE.
=)thnx. Much of nintendo's sturbborn and traditional approaches were the result of Hiroshi Yamauchi's disciplines. They ve changed (a bit), yet one has to recall what drove their grand visionary, Gumpei Yokoi to build the original GameBoy: Use old parts in creative ways to make new things and make a lot of money.
Yeah, I wasn't saying either that Nintendo should be praised for its business practices under Yamauchi, more like the company is more deserving than before to succeed.
This would've been another case of an idea that failed because it was ahead of it's time. And, the technology probably was perfected at that time, so the controls would've been horrible.
