    This is false. The D-terminal carries component video and peripheral switching signals. The component video signal is YPbPr with the sync on Y. The connector type is HDR18 not DB15.

    D-terminals are common on Japanese television sets. Beside component video they also carry peripheral switching signals (like also available on European SCART sockets). This effectively signals the aspect ratio to your TV so you don't have to set the aspect ratio manually. It can also make the TV switch to the correct input channel automatically on powering up the console without having to use the tv remote control.

    Why dont you have a look around for a hack/mod? Im sure you are not the only one with this idea!

    Wow, thanks alot for the info :) I never knew there were so many differences since I ve never seen a D-terminal upclose :)

    Peripheral signals sound very sweet indeed, does VGA have a similar feature? or is it just RGBHV?

    @Yakumo:

    The easiest way to play Wii on a monitor is to do what I did with all my progressive-scan capable consoles:

    1) The VGA input on PCs are NOT digital. They do NOT carry a bit-stream for RGB, like say DVi-D or HDMi.

    2)the difference between the Component cables that the Wii has got, and VGA is mainly that component cables carry their SYNC for Horizontal and VErtical scanning on Y (green colour), whereas VGA is essential RGBHV, meaning that it carries the H and V sync seperetaly.

    On to the solution!

    1)Get yourself something like this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Progressive-C...ryZ73390QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD2VQQcmdZViewItem

    I got one (similar item , not same shell) and it works FINE.

    2) Get yourself a Component Cable for Wii and plug the component cable in the VGA box, and wire the Box to the monitor via a standard VGA cable. voila.magic.

    The only DOWNSIDE is that this will function properly in any game that supports the 480P format. I have yet to test it with 480i sources, but I will once I get my Wii (which is around lat january)

    As Jeilong corrected me above, the D-terminal cable is NOT compatible with VGA monitor. VGA monitors use a DB15 ,whereas D-terminal uses HDR18 (18 being the number of pins), and also having to carry peripheral signals. HV sync however, are carried on Y as on component.
