wow I cant belive I actually found a NEW unopened copy of this super cheesy movie / infomercial for nintendo at a local move shop ! We'll I must admit i had to get it for nostalgec reasons, and heck it was the shit at the time when i was a kid. Come on some of you must remember the crazy cross country adventure filled with Nintendo plugs a super lame lines, such as my favorite "I love the power glove, its so bad" hahahaha I watched it today and loved every minute of it for totaly different reasones then the last time a saw it the the late eighties :smt043\ Here is a pic to help jogg some memories of those old enough to remember.
I got that some time ago....after reading up on some info for the Mario movie.........so just had to get it. Not bad...............some game footage. And I got one of those power gloves.....could never get the b`tard to work.Perhaps it was on NTSC tv`s only....manky PAL format!! Hoping to get a new PC soon...so can copy video to DVD then load onto PC and share if people want it
Oh yeah, that movie was awesome!! It was so exciting to actually see footage of Super Mario Bros. 3 before the game was released, I nearly wet myself. :smt043 It's been too long, I should prolly track down a copy of that sometime for nostalgia's sake...
your lucky. For me it brings back painful memories of my childhood and reminds me where my hatred of Fred Savage began. :smt067
I actually saw this movie when it came out. Still have the little "pocket power" mini-mag they gave away at the theater. I wonder if it's worth anything?
it came on tv a while back on nick. its a good movie. probably the only movie about just video games i know of. besides the "gay" movies based off video games.
Video game movies, as a rule of thumb, generally tend to suck ass. I did like the first Mortal Kombat movie (although it's pretty lame,) and the first resident evil movie was actually pretty good (except that stupid ass part where she karate-kicks that dog. Who's dumb-ass idea was that?) That's why I'm hoping they don't screw up Metroid, or else I will have to kill them all. Know what would make a great movie? Castlevania. That would rock.
Try one of the absolute worst. I'd rather watch HOTD over that Paul Anderson-directed shit. Shit actors, shit directing, shit script, and for crying out loud, the absolute most gayest ending ever. I would not watch MK if you paid me anything under a hundred bucks. As for the Wizard I wathced a VHS rip fo ti the other day then deleted it. Nice as a kid but crappy now, of course. Too bad it'll never receive a DVD release.
video games that would rock as films (if made by good films makers) : Devil May Cry , Metal Gear Solid .
Go for the star Jimmy, the STAR!!! What a load of utter SHITE!!!!I can't believe anyone would pay money for this utter cack and piss. Please throw it in the nearest bin where it belongs.
.......... I remember the wizard, slice of 80's cheese, but when your a kid and into computer games it was great......other movies of great note featuring video games or inspired games etc: The Last Fighter (inspired a NES game and prob other formats)....good use of cgi for the time to render the star fighter. errrr...........struggling here, dont metion tron, I have a hatred for tron, I just cant get past the fact its actors wearing (tight)lycra body suits while they project "future dazzling techno gubbings" on their skin....although for the time good cgi... Mario movie......what, de-evolving the human race with crappy painted sliver super scopes....what the hell where they thinking Street fighter the movie.....you should just watch it for van dames/guiles speech......"we can go there and rescue them all...or we can all go home!" you go guile you hard mutha! Mortal Kombat was a good movie in its own right, it wasnt too tongue in cheek, but it also stuck true to its games (the fight between johnny and scorpian with the signed pick death move)......as for the sequal and tv show...pah..... But like someone has already said, video games as a rule do not make good movies....also the fact that alot of video games borrow elements from movies to start with. A good example is metal gear series, snake is, and you cant argue with this, rambo (and the whole colnal pulled from retirement thing) crossed with a little bit of snake pliskin (escape from new york) so there you have an instant comparable value if Metal gear was made into movie. Although if done right, you could have a good thinking mans action movie (but only if based on metal gear solid, you gotta have the ninja and his amazing death speech, that and sniper wolf's as well). I always thought SNATCHER would make a good movie, but again you have the movies it borrows from and they are already heavy weight movies, terminator, blade runner and invasion of the body snatchers....and lets face it, you cant beat terminator and blade runner at their own game.......
Re: .......... well, i love more snake than rambo ! :-D he is more human and les '' i shoot everything'' , he's inteligent, not just have muscles. metal gear could do an excelent movie , with allot of actions but allot of story , intelligence and philosophy. metal gear is already near to a movie , an excellent movie, and is really excelent as a game too. i love splinter cell ( online is incredibly fun!) but metal gear is far better imo. the 2nd movie of mortal combat is crap.
Re: .......... Metal Gear Like Rambo.... are we talking about the same Metal Gear. I have always thought of Metal Gear as a stealth game. Anyway, I have always compared Metal Slug to Rambo. You know, the one man army shooting everything in sight. :smt067
