Video games that were made to movies. UTTER SHITE COLLECTION Mario The Movie Street Fighter The Movie (only worth watching for Kylie Minogue) The House Of The Dead (Nothing at all to do with the game apart from the odd arcade flashes) Fist Of The North Star (ok, it's based on the manga and anime but there are games that were made well before the movie ;-) ) WATCHABLE BUT COULD HAVE BEEN A HELL OF A LOT BETTER COLLECTION Tomb Raider 1 Tomb Raider 2 Resident Evil Mortal Kombat (Shite but far better than Street Fighter) Dragonball Z (Chinese Film) Street Fighter (Chinese Film) Final Fantasy Parasite Eve (Japanese Film) GREAT GAME TO MOVIE COLLECTION err,....................................... NONE but there are many great anime from games such as Street Fighter The Animated Movie Garoundesetsu (Fatal Fury) Final Fantasy Pac Land (used to love that. Probably crap these days) Of course the above are just my opinions. You may agree or disagree :smt083
I think Half-Life would make for a nice movie... weren't there rumors at one time of one being in the works? Oh and what happened to that Wing Commander movie that was announced years ago?
there's alot of rumors about alot of games you know? i've heard things about silent hills, pitfall, metroid, metal gear , doom, half-life, perfect dark, time splitters , ico , among others... some could be cool, others ugly.
The 1999 Wing Commander movie? That film sucks, like wc iv and v. The first thing that came across my mind about this movie are the kilrathi puppets, the ones used in WC3 looked great in comparison. In fact, after watching the film we were joking about how much did they look like a member of Sesame Street´s cast. (The localized version aired in Spain in the early 80s)
I've been looking for a copy of The Wizard for a long time now. If someone could dump a video of it, I'd be a very happy guy. Anyone remember another game-related movie, called 'Cloak & Dagger'. It was about a kid who gets hunted by spies because he comes across an Atari game with some codes in it. If I remember correctly, he was day-dreaming about an imaginary action-hero friend named Jack Flak or something. He also had a real friend who ran a games shop and helped him discover the codes, which was displayed if you reached a certain level in the game. It's bound to be cheezy as hell now but I remember I kinda liked it at the time.
I've had the movie for ages. Its even on DVD in Germany, under the title Joystick Heroes or something, but it is probably dubbed
I remember cloak and dagger, saw it once a long time ago, wasnt bad for what it was(but seemed like an advertisement for atari much like wizard was for nintendo). However i must say wizard was a classic especially the amount of games they showed and such, and i can imagine that seeing super mario bros 3 for the first time must have been amazing(the first time i saw it was a couple of years ago).
Yep I remember seeing The Wizard in theaters when it first came out. I also remember pre ordering SMB3 the very next weekend when I could get my folks to take me to the mall.....aaa the memories, i think that game cost around $80 CAD at the time. Damn that was alot of papers I must have delivered :-D Anyway if anyone actually wants a real copy of it bad enough, and cant find it anywhere else the place i got mine from said they can get more in. There all brand new and sealed.
To order them in, they are 19.00 CAD which is about $14.75 USD not the cheapest and they only come in VHS as a DVD was never released. But they are mint, new, sealed and o so damn fun to watch !
uhh, i don't think it would made a good movie. indeed , metal slug is a great game , but as a movie.... that would be something else. i don't see metal slugs with speechs and everything. :-D
Metal slug mostly is comical, as a movie it wouldn't work as it would have to be real serious, plus the game is mostly just 6 levels of action, some of the best gaming you can get i might add.
well, if it was comical, it could be a good comedy movie/action. i think most movies based on games suck because they are too serious. how about something thats not so bad its laughable but something that is funny?
Stupidest line in the Wizard: Fred Savage: " Well, just keep your power glove off of her!" That about sums up the brilliant writing in the Wizard. As for Cloak and Dagger, I think the movie actually came first (not a bad movie at all I might add, lots of spy intrigue, people getting shot in the face, airplanes blowing up, etc, plus a cool opening scene of "Jack Flack" or whatever his name is stealthly slitting people's throats and then suddenly being chased by gigantic dice- you realise it's just a role playing game.) The Cloak and Dagger video game was in arcades and was supposed to be on the Atari 5200 but it never happened. There's screenshots of it but no ROM. The arcade game was kind of like Shamus or Robotron, pretty good for 1982. Plus, unlike Fred Savage, the kid in Cloak and Dagger can actually act. Doom is definetly being made as we speak. My sister used to be an agent for DPs and still gets all the inside Hollywood info. Another cool video game movie would be Command and Conquer- hell yeah. They could even make it a trilogy with Red Alert and Tiberium Sun.
Seems only Yakumo has touched on the Japanese side, where anime = marketin = games. And just like western movie/game combos, most anime/game combos suck crap too. HOWEVER, there are a few good ones. Magic Knight Rayearth (Saturn) is a great game. There's at least 1 good fighting Ranma game on the SFC, and a good puzzle game. I'd like to say there's a good DBZ game, but I hate them all And that's about it, which is just flat out scary since there's so damn many
