Fuck no! Well... probbly not. My main account is banned, though I do have a second account with my Vanilla -> TBC main on there (Feral druid long before it became fashionable / easymode) I upgraded to WotLK at some point, I have no intention to reactivate it though.

My laptop is getting old though, the keyboard is pretty fucked and it would be nice to play Supreme Commander or even Forged Alliance with some level of deceny - as nice as my 5920G is, it does lag on online games once x amount of units are built and as my current system is the shittest of the people I play with it is my fault

That said I can't really be arsed buying another PS3 after selling my first to help fund the original Geist purchase and pretty much most games of interest are multiplatform these days anyway - a half decent PC will do me for what I need it to and probably last a good 3 years (5 if I SLI, SSD and fill the RAM)

I do miss Counter-Strike: Source and my pump action shotgun (I was godly with it... well that and a pistol) and I also miss the Zombie mod too. I can run them on my laptop, but not as fun when half of the keys are broken and the 8600 M GT isn't as good as the GPU in my former desktop (before it exploded playing WoW...)

I think next on my to do list are the CPU (I may go for cheapshit i3 or pay a little more for quad core i5 - i7 is probably a nono though), a couple of sticks of RAM and a decent WD HDD with 64Mb Cache. I'll use the onboard GPU for starters, then add a GPU. I'm thinking of a GTX 560 now, I'm not fooled by the crippled GTX 550 now they dropped the GTS branding haha, but realistically I can't afford a GTX 580. Still, a GTX 560 is almost twice the card of a GTX 550 but for only 50% more money so IMO that's good value right there.

I'll throw in more RAM / another GTX 560 / SSD as and when I can afford it / get around to it - I have no intenton of playing at 2560 x 1600 though, 720p or even 1080p @ 60 fps through my TV lag free with graphics maxed would do me fine.

Yeah, from what I've read, the ban comes from Sweden, but the distributor for all the Nordic countries is the same, so all Scandinavia gets no DOA.

Censorship is always shitty, and for this bullshit reason too. If they fucking cared so much about not exploiting children sexually, they'd stop going after virtual or drawn characters, and start nailing some Catholic priests to crosses.

Yeah it wouldn't surprise me, if Sweden becomes the new UK in gaming censorship overlords. Hell, I think they would censor Hokusai and other Japanese masters of wood carving . Prohibition country ! ! ! So the only way is importing that game. To either Norway or Denmark, and then give the finger to Bergsala for being a bunch pussies.

There's only ever been two games banned here, and I think both were overturned pretty quickly.

Not to point fingers, but I think Germany has a much worse track record of banning games.

ebuyer listed the motherboard I originally ordered differently to the info on the manufacturer's site - I tried to change it to a more suitable motherboard, out of stock arf... so my 1155 Z68 dreams are over and I'm just going to build an 1156 shitbox instead, lose some performance and save a small fortune.

A GTX 560 is still on the cards though, just with no SLI. The other painful element is the motherboard I've gone for now has no RAID -_- Still... not to worry. The money saved today will be used to buy another throwaway machine tomorrow.

 

I know, but what games I am thinking off that were censored back in the day were Tekken 3 and Soulblade , actually I am not certain about Tekken 3, whether it was USA that censored that before it came to Europe or not. But UK censored Souldblade , which was known as Souledge every where else. But I am not pointing finger at the UK (actually I am) but UK has censored so many things(not just games) (over decades, if not even centuries, and I am not joking), and they still do to this day. But this Swedish law sucks, when it comes to this particular game. Yes I am well aware of Germany and their draconian censorship laws, but Australia is not far behind in insane laws. When it comes to censorship across the spectre.

But UK has basically had control over quite a few console games, either being censored or not released in Europe. Thank goodness at least you could get PC games here, uncensored. Because we were not under the "overlords" in that instance.

 

Name me all these games that were censored in the UK that weren't in the US or the rest of Europe, then. I think it's a very rare occurrence.

The Soul Blade/Edge thing will be a licensing issue, surely. It's a bit of a stretch to call that "censorship".

 

Soul Blade/Edge was censored because of the use of nunchucks and those three part chained staff things that Billy Kane uses in the FF games. At the time depictions of these in any form were a no-no with the BBFC whether they were in films, cartoons or games.

As for the name change I don't know but many games have had their names changed and it's been nothing to do with censorship.

Couldn't you have checked OCUK, Scan, Misco, Novatech or Aria for the board you wanted? Also what 1156 board have you gone for instead of the original Z68 you wanted?

Really need to upgrade my computer a little as i need a new GPU and i want to switch from my Antec 900 to a CM-690 II advance in white plus i do want an SSD to use a boot drive. Could also get a newer CPU but my 3.0Ghz Phenom II x2 545 dual core is fine just now and if required i can easily unlock it to a stable X4 B45 which does give me a decent amount of extra performance.

 

I could have checked the other sites, but I already had my £104 in ebuyer (they took the money from my card) and I didn't want to fuck about waiting for a refund - ebuyer prices are not always the best but usually competitive though so happy to spend there.

The board I've gone for is budget sadly - Gigabyte GA-H55M-S2, but if it works it works and anything beats my 4 year old core 2 duo laptop atm.

I remember when hyperthreading first launched on the P4 3.06Ghz - I paid £500 for that CPU on day one and loved it. I had an IBM 36Z15 in there too, it was an awesome rig

I did learn a lesson from that machine though, which is I can still get satisfactory perfomance without having to go balls out. The box I'm building now probably won't be as useful for as long, but with the money saved I could easily afford another throw way machine sooner rather than later.

My main goal though is to build a better system than my friend for not much more money He built a new mahcine in March with some of the worst decisions ever, focusing on cost only (when he has mucho svaings too lol).

For example he went for a core 2 duo over an i3 to save £30, he went for a 460 GS instead of the newer 550 GTX which is a few pounds cheaper, he went for a HDD with 32mb cache and paid more than on a good drive with more storage and a 64mb cache, he paid more for his 4gb of DDR2 (2x 2gb) than I'll be paying for an 8gb matched pair (2x 4Gb). Oh yeah and then he overclocked his machine and made it incredibly unstable because he paid for 1600mhz ram and got 1333mhz and wanted to get his moneys worth lol!

So yeah, my system will not be as good as I'd like it to be now (damn you ebuyer and my Z68 woes) but it will right a lot of his wrongs and not cost a fortune to do so.

I hate my bank right now, got a letter saying something about my recent activity being unusual to which i checked via online banking and found nothing wrong but of course i am unable to use my card anywhere other than a cash point.

Anyway i am supposed to call an automated service where it ask's me to confirm the phone number i'm calling from as being attached to my account so they can check my details or input any other one they have on my account but somehow they can't retrieve my account info from any number i give them so most likely i'll have to take a trip into the bank tomorrow.

Well the board i have is a budget GA-MA770-UD3 gigabyte board, sure it has overclocking/core unlocking options and a decent amount of I/O options on the back but it's not as high-end as some AMD boards available.

Not done overclocking since i had my old abit P35 board and took a 2.0ghz E2180 to 3.0hz so not fussed about going for budget boards as long as i can stick in a decent cpu as well as graphics card and a decent amount of ram.

 

Shadow warrior was another UK censored. And so did they with Carmageddon. Green blood, instead of red. But as I mentioned centuries, during the Victorian era UK censored so much shit, that you have no idea. Unless you have studied it.
