How hard is it for a Mexican professor (specialised in communication, with great affinity for languages, translation, and media analysis) to find a place to work or do research in Toronto, Canada?

When my friend went to the states, they denied his visa and the agent told him something among the line of "Mexican doctors are still just gardeners and waiters for us. "

    Is work in Canada easier?

Educational credentials from Mexico don't stack up against US, although that comparison was clearly harsh.

My university (<---This is a link) is clearly superior to many institutions, though (like... the University of Phoenix, and the such, I guess). You can't generalise and compare all mexican universities against all american universities.

But yeah, there's pretty shitty education down here.

... now that I think of it, there's pretty shitty education up there. Expensive, though.

Los Angeles is the second largest population of mexicans in the world, from what I've heard. (The order: Mexico City, L.A., Guadalajara Metropolitan Area, Monterrey)

    Go, Prop 19, GO!

    Legalise it!

Today I found a cat dazed, in the middle of the street in front of my home. It was very ill apparently, thin and boney, but extremely friendly. Its fur was a complete mess.. diarrhea stains along the hind legs. Touching it was like holding a bag of bones.

I instantly brought some food and water but although it drank it wasn't eating, despite being so thin.

I instantly took it to a vet.

there I found out that she was about 7 years of age, had been castrated in the past but now has a large solid tumour inside her intestines. The animal was clearly in pain.

I spoke to the vet and asked him about the best life deal this poor thing could get. Turns out he'll be keeping it overnight and most probably euthanising it tomorrow as there is no room for her to improve over her current state. I don't know if what I did was any better than if I had left it in the cold outside. At least she'll get a meal and a warm room before tomorrow, for the last time.

I feel a strange sort of guilt not being able to do more for the poor animal.

You did the right thing. It's getting cold and starving and freezing to death is horrible.

At least it will be warm.

Sad thing is if it was spayed then it belonged to someone once,
    maybe got lost...

There are a lot of "catch and release" programs out there, so it may not ever have had an owner. I agree though, that this was the right course of action.
