Back in 2007, I bought a copy of Metal Warriors for $5 at a used game store. Around 2010, I wanted to clear out some of my collection and I wasn't that partial to the game, so I brought it to a different store and sold it along with a bunch of other games for credit. I had no idea it was worth so much these days. I got like $30 bucks in credit for everything. Dude at the store probably labeled it for $95 and displayed it as soon as I walked out.

my entire SMS/Genesis/Sega-CD/DC collection just over 10 years ago during bad financial times...ive fortunately been able to get most of it back, but the carts are largely loose & i can't be bothered to track down manuals, especially when they don't have my childhood writing in them, heh. i lost a ton of magazines in a storm out this way years back but ive been lucky replacing the ones i really liked - Diehard GameFan, Game Players, EGM etc.

The things I regret selling most are my NES console with 2 controllers, the gun and about 30 games about 5 years ago for credit on a few xbox 360 games. Definitely my worst trade in. Can use ROMs but everyone knows it doesn't feel the same.

Also I sold 2 full sets of Pokemon cards in near mint condition in official Pokemon folders complete Jungle and Base sets. Sold on eBay for about £160 in total around the same time 5 years ago. Would have loved to keep those for the childhood memories!

I regret selling my Gamecube with component cable a several years ago.... but only because I could have sold it for more now lol.

The things I genuinely regretted selling were my SNES RPGs that I had owned since they came out - Final Fantasy II, Secret of Mana, Breath of Fire II, and Secret of Evermore. I'm glad I was unable to let go of Final Fantasy III and Chrono Trigger. They even still have my savegames from 18-19 years ago intact (and with fresh new batteries too :D ).

I regret getting rid of the SNES I got in '91 after I thought I broke it with an attempted s-video mod back in '97. Proper SNES s-video cables were pricey and hard to find, and I was just a kid without a credit card so no internet purchases for me. Looking back now, I realize that the problem was just that stupid fuse. Doh. At least I got to see Secret of Mana in glorious s-video for a few minutes. I didn't know that I should have turned on the power switch after unplugging it before putting the SNES back together.

When I was a child and knew no better, I inherited an Intellivision from my grandfather. it was complete and working, included around 7 or 8 games, boxed with overlays.
If I knew then what I do now, I never would have parted with it.
Unfortunately, I was young. I had an NES and had just gotten my first Playstation and my mother suggested getting rid of old consoles because of the new ones taking up their space, and I went along with it.
I've never even SEEN another Intellivision in person since I got rid of that one.
What's worse, is we didn't even sell it.
We gave it to a charity store.

Never again. Not one console, accessory or game gets left behind unless it is entirely dead and I can't figure out how to fix it.

The system is not as important as the memories!

But revisiting those memories is nice on occasion. I own an Atari, but it doesn't feel the same. My Atari controller doesn't have a stupid metal disc to nostalgically get my thumbnail caught in.

Don't feel too bad Gorkagirl, I know many who have given away more than one console or their parents threw it out...

I regret selling my Xbox 360 Lian Li XB01 case. A friend gave it to me. It sat in a closet until I sold it. I sold it for $75 on ebay. Kicking myself ever since.

Sort of regret selling my gameboy classic and games as a kid in order to save for N64.
My story with the gameboy wasn't stellar, my first game was Castelian (go look it up and think of yourself with arround 7 years playing that single game for ages, never completing the 2nd level and ensuing endless rage). I did eventually get some better games, but I grew up scared of the unforgiving difficulty (mostly thanks to the ludicrously shitty controls and character "physics") of that game which haunted me for ages when I approached the purchase of a new game. So I sort of saw the logic of selling it, but not so much that I didn't mind at all. Also I sold it for way too little in the end. That really annoys me now.

And, yes, my parents didn't buy me videogames. They gave me some LITTLE money from time to time and I saved it, which allowed me to buy that eventually. You'd think that would give me a good sense of economics, but I think I only learned to be stingy...

Got craigslist scammed 5 years ago. Traded my Xbox 360 with 15 or so games for a desktop computer that was actually really good in specs and maxed any game I threw at it.
Problem? The motherboard failed a week later and the guy dropped off the face of the earth.

Then 2 years ago I sold a PSP for $80 and it turned out the money was counterfeit. Almost got arrested when I tried to use the money. Luckily for me, the moron didn't remove his facebook account and I saved his photos, name and went to the police. They gave me the PSP back and arrested him. He ended up getting 6 years in prison... and he is still there. Better think twice next time!

A few years back when I knew next to nothing about anything I traded a copy of Megaman 4 for nes and 40$ for a sega saturn model 2. I still regret that to this day.
What makes it hurt even more was that NEXT DAY I went to a thrift shop for the hell of it and they had a model 1 sega saturn, with a ST Key, memory pak, and 3d controller for 20$

I miss my NES and SNES. When I got an N64 I let my mum persuade me to get rid of them. I have no idea what happened to them.

Not 'sold', but my N64 went missing when I went to university. I asked my dad to hold on to it for me, and when I asked for it back, he returned the games and controllers but not the console, saying I'd never given it to him. Why would I have given him everything else but the console????

So stupidly I then sold all the games and controllers, it never occurred to me to simply buy another N64. Nostalgia hadn't fully set in then...

Definitely mine was swapping my mint NES with 10 mint complete games (rare as well) for a crabby Master System 2 with 30 iffy games with it. I was young and foolish and thought I wouldn't miss the NES with 30 new games to keep me busy. Apart from anything the Master System and the games is worth a fraction of what the NES would be now, and you would really struggle to find most the games I had in that condiiton no matter how much money you threw at it :(
