Whoooo boy I'll try to keep the list down to my top regrets. Absolute #1 would be a prototype original xBox controller I'd picked up at a yard sale and resold before I knew what I had--literally the next day I had a collector friend freaking out because I sold it for just $10 after buying it for $1. Probably next in line was my Intellivision and games. Does anyone remember the DnD game for it? Then, of course, there's the time I fell on really hard times so I bulk sold my original xbox, 360, and ps2 and all the paraphernalia I had to go with them.

Once upon a time I accumulated over 150 PS2 titles and sold them all to pay for a Xbox 360. I'm slowly building my collection back but I can't believe I did that. Now I have a policy to never sale any console or game (unless it's for bills ;).

I have removed the last couple of posts as they were not relevant to the thread. (Sorry Syclopse, you just got caught up in an irrelevant post so I removed yours as it didn't make sense alone!)

Please remember - this thread is about things that you regret selling, not a thread for you to link to an item you have for sale and might regret selling in the future.

eBay links go in the eBay thread ONLY. And you won't regret selling something you listed at an extortionate price if it actually sells - you'll be laughing all the way to the bank.

I didn't really sell it but when I had some Wii games a few years a go, I either gave them to Goodwill or threw them away. The game I regret losing is Zack & Wiki. That was SOOO much fun.

My NES :-(, it was the first console I ever had and I was saving money for a looooooooong time in order to be able to afford it.
Also my Wii with Zelda, not so much because of the console itself but because I sold it just too cheap x-(.

As I've read in this thread, my rule nowadays is: NEVER SELL :-D unless you have it twice, can't be wrong that way hahahaha (i don't have such a big collection... so...)

On the bright side I've happily kept the Dreamcast with me... (was about to sell it once... thanks heavens for that)

The (almost) never sell rule also applies to me. The only game I regret selling is my PAL CIB Knights of the Round for the SNES, as its price has increased a bit since then. I've kept all my childhood games and systems as they became the basis of my collection.

I regret selling my AES collection, since it effectively doubled in value since then.

Oh man I just found this website today, saw this thread, and had to make an account immediately to respond. This is one sad topic to read through. :(

I regret selling my completely complete Final Fantasy collection. I had every game from NES to PS2, both Japanese and US versions, in mint condition with original boxes/cases and all manuals and paperwork. What a dumb decision I made.

Sold it all when I moved from LA to San Francisco because I really needed money and sold way too much of my prized electronics. It hurts deep down.

Argh bad memories man.... I sold my UK copy of Shining Force 4 on Sega Saturn to pick up Dracula X: Gekka No Yosukyoku (JPN Saturn version of CV Symphony of the Night). Not a bad choice but lost out on value+ repurchasability.

This is not a regret of value but a regret of a hard lesson. Very early 90's before Gamestop was a thing Toys R Us started taking trade ins for games. They had an ad that said they would give money for games. I took most my NES games down including a CIB Zelda 2. Well they gave me 5 dollars....in Toys R Us money. Not real money store credit money. I was pissed and wanted my games back. Well since I was a kid they took advantage and kept my games.

All my old Pokemon games. I'm slowly collecting them all again, but the one I never backed up the save for before I sent it off was Emerald (and Fire Red, to be fair, but I don't care about that save). My clock had hit 999 hours and I had still played for many more. Dammit.

The problem is the somewhat artificial demand for Pokemon games all of a sudden. It's a bit too long a discussion for this thread, but basically, everyone and their mother suddenly thinks every Goddamn Pokemon game is worth way more than they actually are, even though those games sold multiple millions (hundreds of millions, if you combine all the franchise's sales together), so they're clearly not in short supply. The Japanese games are way cheaper to get and I've mainly been buying those (plus some of the regional differences are interesting), but even they are gradually increasing in price. Screw people.

I regret selling a CIB Famicom Disk Drive a few years back.

I sold it for way more than I first purchased it for (back before Nintendo items became worth gold nuggets), but I still wish I had it. I miss it for some odd reason.

I sold my entire collection, except my Dreamcast (I could not find the disks), when I left University and had no room. There was nothing of major value there, but these were 90% items I had owned as a kid from new so did have some value to me.

Making up for it now though, rebuilding the collection from scratch and it will be extended. Shame it is now costing me 3x what I got for it at the time :(

    Flintstones: Surprise at Dinosaur Peak

I just checked Ebay's sold listings and the game is going for more then twice what I sold it for.

While that is disappointing, I mostly regret selling it because it was a gift from my father and was my first rare game.
