The xbox 360 forums have been the cause of too many problems, so I will be closing them permanently on monday.

Thank you to all the contributors.

Can't we just, tar and feather those responsible?

Will the forums be visible as an archive or completely gone? If you don't mind me asking.

Don't know yet, all I know is 90% of the work and grief I get comes from this one forum.

I was considering giving it it's own user group and only those people allowed to post.

Still thinking about how to deal with this.

hopefully a solution is found that at least leaves the information here. Constant problems or not this forum IS a gold mine of info.

been mentioned yes but now you've confused a bunch of people.

solution must be self managing and open to posts, yet prevent
    flaming and unwanted behaviour.

If it's gotta go, it's gotta go :(

I would like to see the posts stay though, I've found some useful information for myself in a few of the older threads.

Um what happened now? Make it a one time thing, ban those that cause the probs no matter who it is or what the problem was.

I think a user group would be ideal but on the other hand I support your decision.

If there's anything I can do let me know Kev.

Why not put a auto-suspend system, so if u post a certain word sequence for instance ("what a retard" or "don't ask stupid fucking questions"etc) it auto-suspends for 7,14 or 30 days.

I know it would be time consuming at first to impliment but when it's up and running it should be 90% effective.

Like others have said, I suggest banning more quickly the problematic posters. If you don't want to moderate the group, maybe select a couple of the more active, respectful posters in that area to moderate?

This is sad, its the forum I enjoyed the most :(, Can you please consider any other alternatives? I mean there is a group of people here who work to help people out and not just to bitch at people or kill their hardware...

These kind of comments don't really help mate....on topic even if this forum closes it won't stop xbox 360 debate/questions cos development conversations will just move to "general development" if there's a mass brick event again it will just be posted to "general gaming" etc etc..... It will just move the problem not eradicate it.

The problem with the usergroup is that the most helpful people also seem to be the most hurtful people which is where I can see your huge conundrum ASSEMbler. It could be a slightly time consuming thing, but each thread could be turned into Downloadable format and just leave them for download as an archive, or just close the forum to any new posts or threads
