Being that in most forums and really in anywhere there are Dragonball fans, I thought it would be fun to see what the members here think of Dragonball gt. No Flaming, just state how you feel about the series, be respectful to other member. No talks of if it is canon as Akira Toriyama already delcared it a "side Story". Also who likes Dragonball super so far? My thoughts: I like it though the story is slow at first, ss4 and the way goku died made the series great in my eyes.
Can't speak for the original material, but the way is was handled in the States... DBZ was worth sticking with back in the day, even when some seasons of the dub were flat out terrible and Krillin was in da house. DB GT? Before the days of the internet, it sounded awesome. Then I finally got to see it and it was just a massive disappointment. Apparently they aired a lot of the episodes out of sequence too. First thing that will always come to mind is the rap-rock nu metal theme song that the dub used for the intro. It was all f'd up.
Very bad, and felt very forced. After DBZ you could expect a decline. This was more along the lines of jumping off a cliff.
GT was a massive trainwreck. Worse than DB: Evolution, to be honest. You know your show's shit when the first episode alone is full of sloppy plot holes that shit on past continuity and future events (warning: super nerd nitpicky shit): Spoiler the series proper starts with Emperor Pilaf and his cronies trying to steal the Dragon Balls, which must've been really fucking tricky for him to pull off considering that at near the end of the Buu Saga in DBZ, everyone was wished back to Earth except for the "really evil ones", which logically means Pilaf shouldn't exist anymore Pilaf is able to find the Black Star Dragon Balls with a Dragon Radar, but it's really hard to accept the idea that they've never appeared on radar before now The Dragon in the Black Star balls shouldn't be active, I'd think, since the original dragon disappeared when Piccolo and Kami fused in GT Why didn't the gang even think to try going to New Namek and use their Dragon Balls to reverse the effects of the Earth Black Star Dragon Balls? That's three wishes, so in one fell swoop they could've undone the Black Star's destructive effect, reverted Goku to adulthood, and destroyed/depowered the Black Star balls. They had a year to collect the Black Star balls, but Dr. Briefs built Goku a ship that took him to Old Namek in six days way back in the Namek saga; and since Goku knows where New Namek, they could've gotten there pretty quickly even without Instant Transmission. I wouldn't be so pissed here if the show at least addressed this possibility, even if it was shot down with a bullshit reason, but the idea never even comes up. The whole premise of Dragon Ball GT destroys the ending of DBZ. There, Goku trains up Uub to become the new "Goku", as it were, since he said he can't always be around to save the universe. GT just awkwardly thrusts Goku back in the spotlight, and Uub becomes a pathetic sideshow in GT, even after gaining what should've been an incredibly significant power boost vis a vis fusing with Fat Buu. And with Goku rendered less powerful after becoming a child again, wouldn't it have made more sense to send Uub in his stead anyway?
^ I guess I can't really argue with that, I guess I would be happy if dragonball super rewrote gt and kept ss4 as well as ss4 gogeta whilst bringing ss4 broly into the series. Even though I really like gt (in my opinion it was better than dragonball) the entire premise of the black star balls seem retarded.
They haven't gone that far yet, it all fits on the timeline. Until super goes into the gt timeline I:E 8 or 10 years after z (can't remember which) it hasn't been retconned.
Yeah but with the pilaf gang showing up trying to do basically the same thing they did in GT........... it is kind of messing with the timeline to ensure it never took place.
