Just wondering if anyone got ODST and what they thougth about it.. After having to play a few levels over due to a strange game save glitch..or non glitch. (Game didn't recognize that i had beaten some levels after playing a Co-op game on Live)... The campaign is quite fun (IMO).. Fightfight it alos good especially if you have 3 other friends... Haven't even put in the second disk yet...
Not recognizing you beat a level may be because you ended it while playing, then resumed coop, that doesn't make it count. You need to play start to finish. I had to redo a level because of that. Love the game, great new feel.
I don't know if I'll get it, I've heard its on the same engine as Halo 3 and its insanely short. After playing online PC FPSes like TF2, Halo 3 just seems slow paced and awkward with the controls now after playing said PC games. /Opinion
Beat it yesterday. Entertaining while it last. Will probably go through again on Legendary. Havent had a chance to try firefight yet.
A friend of mine finished it in 3 hours, and thats not the lenght of a videogame, it's the lenght of a long movie.
I was extremely dissapointed when I played it. $60 for a game on an engine that's 2 years old and 50% of the content is from the previous game. The models also just didn't seem as detailed as Halo 3 either. I didn't get to play very much single player at my friend's house, but since it was jumping between different people you play as there at the beginning and it's really short doesn't seem like there would be much room for character development. Firefight mode was indeed cool, but it being limited to only 4 players was depressing. I also love how everyone says Firefight mode is just copying CoD: WaW. I'm pretty sure the unreal series had an invasion mode long before CoD or halo. (Not sure if there is a series that had something similar sooner.) Overall I don't understand how it's getting all these great reviews. Practically the whole game seemed lacking in detail, gameplay, story, etc. Not to mention spending $60 for this when it should be $30 max. (it's half a game right?) Several games have added more content in DLC before.
The campaign feels NOTHING like Halo 3. Which is a good thing. Campaign while short was VERY well done. As for it being on a 2 year old engine...um it began as an expansion. It's in the name for christ sake. as for it "Copying COD and Unreal and GOW". let's rewind the clock back - MARATHON had a survival mode. Bungie had a firefight mode in Marathon which takes place in the same universe as Halo - years BEFORE.
Only thing i'm really sad about is that firefight has no online matchmaking so your limited to either local co-op or having people in your friends list who have the game. I wanted to just hop in with a group of random people like horde in GOW2.
MitsuruX: what it basically boils down to is, if you are the biggest ever HALO fan, and needs everything when it comes to HALO when the shit is out. But if you are not the biggest fan of HALO, then you wait 6 months, until the crap is at least 30 US Dollars or less. Or else you can probably find a playthrough on youtube of the sack of shit game in some peoples eyes. Or the new messiah in other peoples eyes. And make your own opinion afterwards , when you have seen the playthrough.
i always liked the captivating campaign storyline, the fact that they all got increasingly intresting and always had that intense ending, like flying away on a space ship back to earth after blowing up your ship, having an awesome boss battle with a giant ape, blowing up another halo, but then i played odst and to be quite honest i was disappointed. Now the game-play is very well polished and i give them credit for that, and the campaign while short-lived was fun and gave the game a new feel. But personalty this bothers me that there charging 60 bucks for 4 hours of campaign with no ending, I mean firefight is cool and all but still unless your an HxC halo-nerd this isn't worth your 60 bucks To make a long story short, this should have been dlc
I dunno, I'm a huge fan of the halo universe and i'd unfortunately pay 60$ to play ODST just for the single player. But being as things are, i won't get it until it drops to like 30-40 probably. I'm still waiting for the new novels to come out
Kinda OT, but did anyone catch that live action "We are ODST" commercial? Man, that thing was epic. It felt more like a short film rather than a commercial
Obviously you're quite uneducated. It was meant to be an expansion pack, but they ended up their story, and Microsoft pushed for it to cost as a full game. Microsoft is usually the one to push things like that.
Campaign is cool. It takes longer than 3 hrs if you're solo'ing it on Legendary like I did. There's also the side story that you have to find hidden transmissions. Firefight is a ton of fun. However, after getting the achievements for it, I'm not sure if it's something I'll come back to... The second disc is REALLY convienent to have. ALL the downloadable maps on one disc. Great for lans. I don't need a Halo 3 disc anymore. With entry to the Halo: Reach beta next year (which I hope is a squad-based shooter) I think it's worth the price tag. Factor in the DLC on disc 2.
I'm not a Halo fan, and really disliked Halo 3 (even in co-op). I did however really enjoy ODST. It also helps that I only paid net $30 through a combination of Amazon deals.
Saw it last night, on a X360 kiosk at the mall. Looked like tons of fun. Unfortunately didn't had the chance to try it.
