THQ's devkits are still alive. Can we save them?

I was browsing reddit today and some random guy posted some photos of THQ's offices, since his company is now moving there. He says they found devkits and CDs for consoles going from PS2 yo Wii U. Imagine what we could find there. Cancelled games, early prototypes and, who knows, maybe some playable stuff from games like Come Midnight or Darksiders 3.

I don't know, I'm just kinda excited and I think this could be huge. I've registered on reddit just to tell them how important those devkits are, but I live in Spain so it's going to be quite hard for me help in any physical way, so maybe the Assembler community can work together and save all those devkits and the data on them.

It says they found a binder of 'devkit CDs', not devkits _and_ CDs... Still, cool stuff that hopefully can be saved. All the awards they left behind are kind of neat too... I hope they just aren't going to trash it all...

 

Haha, that sounds like a plan. Anyway, I don't see too much interest regarding this. I would definitely try and save some of the stuff there, but there's little I can do being in Spain.

 

Wow, When my company moves to others premises, we only found dead rats....Not so history artefacts....

I think that all is going to finish on ebay. A lot already did, like one pal version of Indiana Jones 64.

It's weird, I'd figure all that stuff combined (especially the statue) could fetch a few grand easily in a bankruptcy auction.

I'd assume the dev kits themselves all got sent back to the console makers, as they're usually leased to game makers.

 

As a huge wwe fan i would be very curious/interested to see what is in THQ's vaults

I'm not 100% positive, but most of the THQ stuff has already shifted hands.

 

Pretty sure most of it has been sold already, a lot of thq things sold on EBay in the last few months.

I had an XDK from THQ with a beta build of Homefront on it still. I since sold the kit but kept the build. Had the same THQ decals on it NetYaroze's PS3's have.

 

I got a built of metro last light and a wrestling game on the xdk I managed to pick up

 

Wrestling games are fun. Glad to hear a bunch of stuff is getting out there.

They had a lot of time in limbo. I'm not even sure if THQ was ever in "serious" negotiations for someone to buy them out (and save what they had). All the kits I have had their HDDs stripped and ones that did have HDDs were "dummy" HDDs, nothing was ever on them.
