I've had 3 so far this week, fun fun fun.

One buyer paid for SEA shipping (takes 60-90 days) then filed the dispute after 30 days. I mentioned this to him and in the PayPal message he says, "Oh yeah, I forgot that I chose SEA...sorry." That was 4 days ago. He hasn't bothered lifting the claim so the money is still tied up.

Had 2 more this morning from the same Buyer out of Spain. He chose SAL, which takes 15-21 days, decided to file the non-receipt claim after 9 days. For his other package he chose EMS and the tracking number says it's in customs in Spain.

Total funds being tied up because of Buyer stupidity? $572.50.

Ive had 2 in the last 48 hours. Polish buyers, filing disputes immediately after purchase due to misunderstandings with multiple item post discounts.

No disrespect to the polish but us this a nationwide operation? Two unrelated buyers filing claims for unrelated items for identical reasons...why couldn't they just email me first and ask???

If there is two things I learned:

-Don't do any sort of business to people not in the US or Big European countries.

    and

-Don't do expensive items overseas, or really at all over paypal.

It always seems to cause issues everytime I try to sell a laptop, and someone from France decided to buy it and causes issues. Small items tend not to have that issue with paypal, so I use them for cheap games and such.

If someone wants to send me a grand I generally tell them to send a bank Xfer, and I somehow cover the cost. It's cheaper that way, anyway.

Oh man, Spanish customs are twats! I've got a Mega Cd on it's way back to me because the idiots never told the person that it's for that it had arrived. Basically I sent the Mega CD, it went to Spain, sat in a room for 2 weeks then sent back to me ! Idiots ! Now I have to tell the Japanese post office to send it back to Spain when it finally arrives. Pain in the arse !

About 60% of my buyers are European, and I can't really stop sending packages there or anywhere else. Except maybe Spain. For some reason I have a lot of problems with Buyers from Spain actually paying for items. It seems to be an optional thing over there?

Anyway, I'm thinking about just negging all 3 of them now. Maybe that will at least get them to respond to emails about claims that they themselves have opened. Plus, we can just mutually agree to remove it after we're done....but I've not done that before. Any experiences?

Quite a few European countries have cheap international xfer options. It's way more manual than Paypal, but it's safer for you. I doubt ebay is going to let you descriminate on what region can pay w/ Paypal though.

And, a word to the wise: I only ship SAL or Airmail if I've had many dealings w/ the person (or it's very cheap).

I had a seller delaying the communications for a while saying he would sort it with the postoffice as the item didnt arrive yet, he then managed to delay it until just after the period I could file in a complaint/resolution centre and I never received the item or money and was unable to deal.. so next time ill be slapping everybody with a complaint that doesnt respond to mail within a day or 2 or items not received within 3 weeks (and yes I always take EMS or something that states at least 15 days) otherwise there is no way to deal with these issue's.

    Yep!

    That's why I won't sell overseas, I lost nearly $3000 on france.

No more european sales for me.

BTW they will probably lock your ebay and paypal accounts
soon, as it will be flagged for having too many claims.

Even if you solve claims, having too many will get you blacklisted.

I would say now is the time to sweep all the money out.

Well, it's your choice 'n all, but it isn't exactly fun for us Europeans. Every time I needed a spare laptop part, or the like, I'd had to bother ye olde Greatsaintlouis with forwarding the parcels. I've never committed fraud on any online deal, yet we all get the shaft if somebody screws up. Heck, I've considered selling my ebay items to everyone but Americans sheerly out of spite...

Well, I just added a longish rant about the situation here and about 2 minutes later one Buyer released both of his claims. The other buyer released his claim about 2 hours ago. I'm free at last.

See, posting gripes on Assembler does work.

Europeans keep me afloat. I certainly am glad there are people that refuse to sell to them... although I doubt Assembler & I could be considered competitors.

Agreed, GaijinPunch. I used to tell people that international shipping is easy, but finally decided that the lack of competition is a good thing and now I keep my mouth shut. :)

And, truth be told, over the years I've lost out on maybe 2 or 3 Paypal claims out of thousands of transactions. Even if I had been royally screwed on all 3 of these recent claims I'd still be way ahead of the game overall. I think it just had something to do with the shock of getting 3 in a 24-hour period after getting none for close to a year.

The occasional fraudulent claim should be figured into your overall plan. Sucks, but is the way it goes in this day and age. Can happen even w/o Paypal.
