Why wouldn't it be real? He has screenshots... It's not likely that he "tossed" it together since it appears to be a legit flashcart.

no, I meant, the way people take the Earthbound Zero rom, flash it into a Nintendo cart, and post it on Ebay as the original proto.

I was asking if maybe, this guy took a prototype rom, and put it on a cart.

I understand, it's not likely because it's on what appears to be an Atari flashcart, for development, not a retail cartridge that someone could have hacked up. The guy has a lot of feedback and is also selling another unreleased item so likely he's not out for some easy money.

scuse me sir, but the earthbound proto was proven to be real , check this interview by yourself:

    http://www.lostlevels.org/200407/200407-earthbound2.shtml

    have fun! :)

as for the Total carnage proto on ebay now, like Kyususaku said, the rom isn't on a normal cart that everyone can find everywhere, it is for developement, so i very much doubt it's a fake too, but it still could be...

You know, at 700 bucks...that seems like a steal for an unreleased game.

  7. That's the ORIGNAL Earthbound proto, cahaz, but since then there have occasionally popped up other 'protos' that turn out just to be a homemade Nintendo cart flashed with the rom.

Just out of curiousity, what was this Total Carnage game? The name sounds REALLY familiar, but thanks to the strategically placed flash from where the guy took photos of the TV, I can't really see much...

The first thing that popped into my mind was Maximum Carnage that shitty Spiderman game.

    It's a follow-up to Midway's Smash TV
The game played similarly but featured more of an adventure-like approach as opposed to the gameshow nature of the predecessor. I believe a version was released on the SNES as well...

  10. OOOO, that could be cool then! I loved Smash TV, that game was awesome. I can also remember Mom forcing my little brother and I to turn it off because she hated the idea of killing in a gameshow. :-D

just to clear it up, I know there is a REAL EB 0, but time to time, people do manage to slip fakes and regular cartidges on ebay. For example, I bought one 2 years ago for 30 bucks, and thankfully, it was fine (didnt have the freezing error commonly heard about with early versions of the ROM)

and about Total Carnage, I, too, would love to buy it, I would however, download the ROM firsthand to try it out (that version at least) to see if it was worth it.

Total Carnage is a load of shit. No where near as good as Smash TV. I have two SNES versions by THQ. The beta has no sound and only one playable level. that is total crap. The original final release is just as shit but with sound :p oh and more levels, not that you'd be botherd to play it that long. So it only seems fitting that this game appears on the Jag.

Actualy, I played Total canage a lot back-in-the-day on my snes. when I got to play Smash TV a couple years later I didn't find it to be very good by comparisons sake (In other words: Total Carnage > Smash TV). Never knew their was a beta available for it though...(starts searching)

oh well, i missunderstood what you said about EB 0 dpp72984, sorry.

Anyway, never played smash TV, what type of game is it? worth spending 5 bucks on it? :p

  15. It's definately worth that. It's a fun top-down shooter game that has you competing for kills and money inside a game-show setting. You basically travel from room to room, collecting items and killing the enemies inside - mindless fun, to be sure, but it's pure arcade action. Pick it up and you won't be disappointed.

For those few that don't know, Smash TV was re-released recently as part of the first 'Midways Arcade Treasures' compilation packs for the Playstation2/XBox/Gamecube.

On topic: I can't believe someone paid $560 for a Jaguar game even though it was unreleased.

    Uh oh, a double disagreement.

I have Maximum Carnage on SNES, and it just plain sucks. It's flat out boring, and the special moves are uselss. I thought it was going to be good when I first got it, but it turned out to be a lame factory.

560$ for a proto of an unreleased game?!? AND an undumped game. Sounds good to me.
