Hi guys, there's a page over on TCRF that shows the debug options from the original Dark Souls. The page basically states that with some assets added there's a debug menu than can be accessed (I assume from a regular version of the game?). I have zero experience with actual dev kits, but what I need to know is what I would need, hardware and software wise, to play this version and capture it? The debug menu allows access to the review build. Many of these things aren't properly documented anywhere online, and I'm anxious to try to find out more before things are lost. Here's the page in question: https://tcrf.net/Dark_Souls It mentions XDK 360, and that a debug version of the Prepare to Die edition exists, but with no further info. I just want to know what kind of time, money and hardware I would need to run this game for myself? Also, if anyone has any further information on any prerelease version of Dark Souls or knows anyone who is working on mining the game please mention. Thanks
Not sure on the entire build but the review files you drop into the retail game are public and do not require a devkit afaik. Simply drop this into an extracted game and run on a modded system, Or yes a devkit but those are a tad more expensive. http://1drv.ms/1NgDlWG
First things first, I added those screenshots of the debug menu and "Crashes 360 XDK" to the wiki because I don't know if it will crash an RGH or JTAG 360. I also only used Prepare to Die edition so the crashes might be due to this. It may be that I just need plain Dark Souls to avoid crashes. All you'd need are certain files to be placed in the game directory and a modded system to boot the xex file from the extra files.. Check the 360 release thread as I'll post the files there (and here) so they aren't lost. You still need a copy of Dark Souls, but normal and Prepare to Die edition work with these files. https://mega.nz/#!lRZgVBwY!qlSOwqHXlDEnhf0JsneQpgrjLA6KOwag3cqL19YXx5k
Awesome! Thanks so much guys, I'll look into grabbing a modded 360 to try it out and report back with my findings
I personally don't own a modded system but in the event something does change in regards to the wiki findings, please do let me know and I'll change it accordingly. And trust me, I know there's a LOT missing on that page. All TCRF content is user submitted so any submission is solely based on anyone willing to contribute.
