I mean those: http://www.tototek.com/store/index....d=168&zenid=nkfc4jclbp27u8pjao0cdqaos7http:// I think they are a relatively new third party product. I imagine they are a complete hardware clone of the GBA contained in a snes cart that only use the snes for power and controller ports but its not like there is much info about them. I wonder how good they are quality and compatibility wise.
Looks interesting. Definitely want to get my hands on one of these to test out. If I do get it, I'll be posting on how well it works. Still have a shitload of GBA games stored away
I am tempted to get one if only to do a technical review of it. They are quite inexpensive. Im hoping someone can shed some more light on them first though.
Depending on how these turn out to be, I might get this and (assuming it'll work with the adapter) a decent GBA flashcart.
So who wants to take the plunge and find out? Could it be an actual GBA hardware clone, or do you think it's a shitty emulator?
Does anyone know if it works with GB, GBC games as well? It'd be helpful if there was a YouTube video of this so I don't have to jump in blindfolded. Sadly, the info in the description is limited and that worries me.
I just realized they have pictures of the circuit board on the Tototek page i linked. Hard to see much though as the resolution is low. There's a big globtop chip on that thing and looking at the traces connecting to the cartridge port, it interfaces more with the SNES than I expected. But then it probably needs to run some sort of interfacing software on the SNES if only to transmit the controller data. It does look like it outputs fullscreen by default which would give it an advantage over the GC gba player, and probably does it better than the GBA tv adapter, which sucks, I tried it. I also wonder what sort of AV options it offers.
Sucks it needs its own AV cord. Would've looked great if it can output via snes since I use RGB to Component which looks amazing I also noticed one of the pics has it working on a pokefamidx. Is it working via cart or is it connected to the pokefami av port? Can't really tell. I really want to try this out but i'm not too sure. It's either this or wait for the Retron5
I don't really see the point of this, when you can get the same effect on official hardware. Just get a Gamecube with GBA Player, and one of those Hori gamepads that's just like an SNES controller.
It looks like it connects to that portable clone in some other way. I thought that the NES and Genesis versions also could connect to certain clones without using an AV cable. The bad thing is this I'm pretty certain is composite video only. That seems to be a common theme with these low quality clones.
I just discovered they have a similar thread at NintendoAge. Someone linked to an upcoming similar product but apparently this one would be able to use the SNES av out directly. (hearsay from someone who asked the company ) http://innexinc.com/product-detail....earch=comingsoon&btn_search=Search&page_num=0
Looks like the same product, maybe a different case or sticker on it. It still has it's own AV output. The SNES PPU can't display GBA graphics due to differences in color depth for one.
Interesting product, but really only viable to me if it will output RGB or component, which I doubt. Shame it wouldn't be able to use the SNES's output since I have a 1CHIP-03.
I'd just go for an original GBA with a GBA TV out or if I could possibly find one a Transverter. I read from some guys adventure with one that both can be modded for RGB out and the Transverter has a really good full screen picture when using RGB. The GBA TV out one isn't quite as good as the Transverter but probably better than this thing for the SNES. Make a cool little case for it, ditch screen and original casings, RGB mod it, use a Neo Geo control pad, flashcart too probably, and there you go. Best way to have consolized GBA games. May ponder doing this if I get the 29" arcade monitor I'm eying.
I dont know about the Transverter but I have the GBA tv adapter here and it sucks donkey balls. The image is really flaky, composite is beyond atrocious on it. While S-video is better it still kinds of flickers and once in a while it kind of skips a frame. Possibly I assume a stigmata of the fact that the GBA is apparently 59 FPS instead of 60 fps. Then the fullscreen mode scaling is ugly as sin so you basically never use it. Add to this the fact that the sound ouput of the original GBA is ultra crappy, this thing really needs an amp circuit overhaul, and you got yourself a pretty crappy consolized system.
Apparently the adapter is NOT compatible with GB/GBC games. Here is a link for a review/test using the gba ad adapter http://wave.ap.teacup.com/pachi/569.html
