What would you expect? A sub-par fighting engine surrounded by jiggly tits is what the game was sold as... the movie couldn't be that great.

 

It's only fitting for the terrible game to get a terrible movie.

While I do enjoy the DOA games, I have to say this teaser does not affect me one bit. It's not like DOA is the pinnacle of gaming and storytelling to begin with. Devon Aoki as Kasumi was not a good choice, that is for sure.

Why in hell do they have SWORDS?!? I have never seen a SWORD in Dead Or Alive except in one of Hayabusa's outfits, and it was NEVER USED. This looks SO lame!

On a related note, am I the ONLY one who recognizes the depth and quality of the DOA series?

 

I hope not. I love DOA, that's one of my favorite fighting games. If you get 2 people that are really good at it going you can get some intense matches. I always thought the bounciness was pretty funny...humor and kickass fighting, what could be wrong with it?

 

I've been championing the fact that there's more to the series than just boobs for a while now. As you said, get two people who know the game and you have some pretty amazing matches to watch - especially if they're good with the reversal system in DOA2 or DOAU. The later installments of the DOA series are the closest gaming's ever really come to an authentic martial arts-style fighting game.

 

Definetly. The only thing I haven't liked about the games is that there never is much of anything new in each sequal, it still lacks some kind of killer replay like Soul Calibur and stuff has, but it's still damn good. I hope DOA 4 isn't just 3 with some new charactars.

 

DOA is one of the few 3D fighters that I really like. It's genius is that it can be enjoyed by the uber casual, to the hardened pro. Even when I'm feeling lazy it feel like you are directing a quality anime fight sequence. + I love the character design.

Also what is wrong with the boobs? at least DOA is just very honest about it. Many games just give some small tease to the player, DOA pretty much says "this is what you want - take it" with no apologies. Anyway in the context of Japan, DOA's boobs are pretty unremarkable. You could pick any H fighting PC game of the shelf and see much more, take advanced V.G. on the pc for example. Or even Battle Raper1/2. I don't play DOA becasue of the boobs, but they are not a negative - shame people have to focus on them.

As for the movie - it looks utter rubbish - the girls look like 3rd rate porn rejects. Oddly that kasumi girl is considered a very good model - I do not get it. Basically you watch that type of film for the ladies and the fights. Neither look better than the game so I will stick with that for now.

 

Don't take me seriously, but its a fighting game with boobs. How in depth can you get? About as deep as a kiddie pool. So will the movie. The female actors in it are the ones getting used, and they deserve it if they signed on for the job.

 

I'll throw my vote in for DOA being one of my favorite games of all time. Movie looks like ass.

 

Lol, I bet you anything the soundtrack will consist of crappy heavy metal that sounds like Godsmack like was in the Resident Evil movies. Maybe it'll have a theme that sounds like the Mortal Kombat theme....lolololololo.

 

Madhatter256 - most Japanese anime style fighters have bouncy boobs to a certain extent, from KOF's mai, Rumblefish, samurai spirits o, bloody roar, I can go on... Now one of my favourite anime of the moment even has bouncy boobs - gankutsuou. It is just a design feature, I don't think it pre-supposes any lack of depth. Still see what you mean, it hardly screams deep game!

Like I said before, DOA uses those boobs to get anime/digital character fans in the game. Those boobs shift more doujinshi and related items than the mind can possible conceive, hell Japanese game developers do the same for women too. The brief for FFVIII, must have been, how can we get as many japanese women playing this game? - hints of shoenen ai (gone in the us version) basically hot (for jap girls) men.

Now if they made a cg film for DOA, I think that would be right up my alley.
