They did not remove any scenes, but dialogue was changed (obviously not just the japanese/english translation). There are certain keywords that instantly flag up shoenen-ai for girls games and anime. Squally and Seifer used those words, it was quite a strong impression actually. Of course he still ends up with rinoa, but it is often the case in anime and such that a guy who clearly likes girls also has strong inclination for other male characters. It is quite subtle like most shoenen-ai, but all it needs is a hint or two for the girls to go crazy for it. (admitedly more subtle than boobs in general!)

Also on the DOA track hayabusa is quite popular with the ladies and you know what is going to happen to that poor kid eliot in DOA4 doujinshi. Something for the ladies........
He is feminine, blond, young, british (damn that yaoi tradition) he is created just for a certain hardcore female demographic.

  3. Agreed.

Someone said on another forum the blonde one (I assume is supposed to be Tina) is a porn "star"

I liked the games, I suck at the bigger combo's and reversals, but it's easy to get into.

It's got Jaime Pressley in it, that's a sure sign the movie's a turd. (see Poor White Trash) But that's the standard right? Movies make crappy video games and video games make crappy movies.

  7. No offense meant, but it's really a question of maturity. If you sit back and say, "That game has boobs! Lol!" then yeah, you're not going to see anything in it. But if you sit down and play for a while, learn the move lists, you realize it's a surprisingly competent and advanced game. The practice of dismissing it simply on account of boobs seems really silly to me. Warakia mentioned the ridiculously bouncy boobs (even worse than in DOA) of Mai in the KoF series, and I'll go one further - in Soul Calibur 2, Taki in her default costume looks like she is really, REALLY cold, if you get my drift. Yet this doesn't stop people from recognizing these as 'legitimate' fighting games.

If you've played Dead Or Alive, and you hate the reversal system, or you dislike the speed of the game, or the execution on the controller - well, what can I say? That's a legitimate opinion formed from an objective look. But to say that you find the game ridiculously shallow just because of boobs is really in the same category as the pimply-faced 14-year old who chuckles to himself because he just bought DOA:Xtreme Beach Volleyball, and like, it's got BOOBS in it!

I will concede that the original game DID have a ridiculous amount of bounce that was actually embarassing to the player if you didn't disable it. The models in the newer games however not only look a lot more realisitc (hyper-idealized, yes, but still possible), they move a lot more realistically as well. But seriously, give the game an honest shot for a decent amount of time - heck, nobody will fault you for playing as one of the male characters, even, and then you don't have to worry about feeling silly at all.

Unless it's Jann-Lee. NOBODY deserves respect who plays Jann-Lee.

Well what you expect.Majority of video games made into movies are
pretty much unbearable to watch. And I do like DOA,but this movie
is not for me.I just hope they don't make a Ninja Gaiden movie.

This is true, but the movie will still suck.

The games do NOT suck, for whoever said that. They're very deep games, although not quite on the level of, say, a Virtua Fighter.

I seem to remember having a conversation similar to this with you one time. It was about Super Smash Brothers and whether or not it was a legitimate fighting game. I also seem to remember you saying that you couldn't take it seriously because it has Nintendo characters and it was only good for quick and ridiculous skirmishes. However, if you take the time to learn the game and its characters (especially in Melee) it's easy to make the fighting in SSB look like a form of art, and you would be amazed at how technical the game actually is.

So, sometimes dismissing the legitimacy of a fighting game because of some sort of "weird content" (like girls with big boobs or Nintendo characters) is really shallow and has a sense of immaturity.

That is the worst thing I've ever seen. Looks like a third rate Kill Bill rip off.

    We should kill them all.

  13. With my current experience, I'm willing to stand corrected on the issue of Smash Bros. - it IS actually a very engaging game once you get into it. I'm getting what I consider to be reasonably well-versed with Ness, and it's a lot more enjoyable now. Of course, my bad opinion could also have been the result of sitting down to play it with a friend who practiced a lot and completely slaughtered me every time.

In my defense, I don't recall disliking it because it had 'Nintendo characters' specifically - I just freaking HATE Yoshi and the handful of Pokemon abominations on the roster.
