I just got back from the theater, and all I can say is WOW. It's one best movies from this year. The best part of the whole movie is easily Jeff Bridges. What are your opinions?
Going to watch it tomorrow night, will let you know, but I am excited already, prepared for the story to be shit, but it's fucking TRON!
I just watched the original a couple weeks ago and thought it was awesome. However, it's definitely due for a reboot. I'm looking forward to Legacy. And it's soundtrack!
damn, i must wait here in germany till january :/ edit: so it's time to look the fist again 80's never die
Love Legacy, I felt lots of nostalgia watching it. When I was a kid I always wondered what happened to Flynn and the world of Tron after the movie... now I know.
I thought it was pretty awesome myself. I can sort of see what some people are saying about the writing not being that great, but I thought it had its moments actually - and plus it's more about the awesome art and special effects than the story anyway. I also thought the music was pretty good. Also, SPOILER: The one part that did seem really stupid was when Tron said "I fight for the user!" It might have made sense if there had been any set up to that at all. You'll know what I mean if you've seen the movie.
cant wait for this to premiere here. Anyone else loved the Tron 2.0 pc game? The only fps I cared to play besides Halo
Great movie and a wonderful sequel that fans deserve. I need to re-watch the original which I haven't seen in years because a couple of things were lost on me, but an AMAZING movie! Well worth watching! @la-li-lu-le-lo, I was hoping to see more from that scene, I agree it seemed out of place almost but it was still a great moment.! -Disjaukifa
I'm actually afraid of modern sci-fi... (CG pisses me off when compared to physical sets and creative camera work) but I hear this one's very good. Maybe I'll get to see it with the girlfriend before she moves.
I stole the Tron 2.0 display from a local Office Depot (what? They were gonna toss it anyway!) And it is what holds my game DVDs even right now. Great display, and really sturdy. It has been serving me well for years. The game... It was okayish for me. I'm not much of an FPS kind of person. I really liked Tron when I was a kid, and I'm due to see this one in Imax as soon as it's released in Mexico. Still, I can't separate Jeff Bridges from "The Dude" sometimes. It will certainly be an interesting viewing.
He kinda is The Dude in Tron: Legacy - the old Jeff Bridges is, anyway. also, SPOILER again: I just saw it again and I realized that Flynn did say in the beginning that his partner at Encom (I forget his name) designed Tron to protect the users. And I'm guessing there was more about that in the original Tron, which I have yet to see. Still, I think they could have built up to it a little bit - it felt somewhat abrupt.
SPOILER: They left Tron that way because it's a set up for a sequel when he comes back to lead the city for the users. He helped the main characters enough to get them to the end, but his real "come back" isn't until later. If you watch the first movie (and you should! It's fantastic), he has a huge part, and all Legacy did was answer some questions as to what happened to him. Tron wasn't supposed to be a big character in the second Tron, but he will be in the next one. I was just happy to know I wasn't crazy when I noticed the "T" for tron on the orange bad guy action figure. I was in the store 4 weeks ago going "but that's Tron's logo... but he's orange which means he's a bad guy...wth!?" Back on topic, I think the movie was amazing. Just went to see it again, and I was on the edge of my seat, even cheering out loud at some parts. It was an absolute thrill ride, and the acting and story were SUPERB. I don't know what some of those reviewers out there were smoking to say the acting and story weren't good, but they need to watch the original movie to understand that they're in a freakin' computer.. not human beings! I also liked the whole irony of Flynn vs Clu, being that Flynn going to the world inside computers to make it and build it over again was considered "good", while Clu's wanting to go to the human's world to build it over again was considered "bad". Funny how similar they were, yet how completely different they were at the same time. Anyone else feel utterly relieved that Quorra survived each of the three times I thought she'd be "derezzed"?
Btw, anyone else think the sound effect coming from Rinzer's helmet was funny? I understand the "gurgling" sound was supposed to sound like a thinking computer, but I couldn't help but think of the deserving nickname of "Mr. Coffee" while in the theater because he honestly sounded like my family's old coffee maker haha.
That's exactly what I thought! It was a really fun movie though. Eye candy was awesome... both the CG and Quorra wearing that filthy outfit. I sexually abuse her in my dreams these days.
Yeah, f*ck, sh*t Germany :-/ It'll be a tough time waiting, want to see it SO badly.... really loved the first one.... And all your comments about Legacy here make me wanna see it even more. I was so worried they screwed it up, but sounds like they didn't scanning through my DVDs now, indeed time to watch the original TRON a couple of times again till end of jan. And then turn on my C116, type TROFF and enjoy it actually recognizing that as a valid command xD
I just got back from seeing it and I thought it was pretty good. SPOILERS The CG really worked. Not sure why because usually I think it looks too fake, but maybe it's because they were using it to create a computer world, not trying to mimic real worlds. The theater had BOOMING 7.1 surround and the action scenes with the music really were done well. The scene with Zeus seemed a bit over-the-top, more of a cliche character in an otherwise original film. They had a really good mix of old and new, redoing the cycle scenes but introducing the concept of life. Having a younger looking Bridges play the villain was a great move, and adding in some sympathy for him in the end was good as well. Overall the CGI was great, the sound was great, the story was true to the original with some interesting new stuff.....at least we can say they didn't screw it up.
