Hey guys, Got a random urge to wipe the dust off my old debug xbox. I did some research on converting retail .xbe files to debug .xbe files using dexbe. So I extracted my files to a folder, opened the default.xbe in dexbe and went to File > Patch to Debug Version. After that I went to File > Save. Copied the new default.xbe to my xbox and got it to show up. The only problem is when I click on it to launch I get "An error occurred loading an Xbox executable".... Any veterans of OG xbox stuff know what I'm doing wrong? Btw, my Kernel version is 1.00.5455.1 if that helps at all.
No worries. I'd still suggest the hackdevkitbios just because it works so well and seamless. Although I know Hex and Borman do not perfer it so its not for everyone I suppose.
I use hackdevkitbios on my DVT-4 and it works great. I highly suggest it. But if you have more than one dev kit or debug kit I wouldn't use it on all of them.
I don't use hackdevkit because it ruins the game saving. Saves online become incompatible, and your saves will need hdkb to work. RGL is the better choice.
I installed RGL and it works great. I tend to be the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" kinda guy so I'll just take ur advice and keep RGL
