I won't be getting an Xbox 360 due to the lack of games. I don't see one I want, but this was true for the original Xbox as well. I only bought my Xbox to play Panzer Dragoon Orta and JSRF. My brother is lucky and reserved a 360 before the cutoff point (lots of retailers are not guaranting the systems first day, with good reason), but even him, the lord of first person shooters, is not impressed. I imagine he'll sell his in a week.

I work at a game store that will be having a "midnight release" in which 20 lucky people will get their systems. I say 20 because Microsoft won't tell us how many are coming, and since they only signed the contracts for the factories to produce the 360 the middle of last month, I doubt there will be enough. I will have to stand there while 400 people try to convince me to sell them one while I yell that there are 130 (at this point, 9-18) people who have reserved it and not all of them will get it that night.

 

Aparently ive heard 60,000 in the uk. The guy at virgin megastores told me this when i reserved. Now if thats only for virgin or for the whole of the uk is questionable. If its true stores will only get a few each.

Hes told me im getting it on released day.

on the other hand, SSX, Halo, Dead Or Alive 3, Amped, Project Gotham Racing, Rogue Squardon, Sonic adventure, Blue Stinger, Mario 64, Super Mario Bros among alot of others where the biggest pile of shit i've ever seen, i hope their creators burn in hell forever for that.

What i want to say is, yes, there's alot of shitty games at launch, but it's not because it's a new system that you can't do great games on it right now. Mario 64 is one of the best game EVER. And it was the game that introduced the console too.

I don't want to wait to get my hands on the revo controller and look like the stupidest gamer ever on my tv, i just can't. ....and it's cool to say ''i have that thing'' when most people you know cannot yet.

 

I for one can say i dint enjoy mario 64 that much and i can certanly say that i enjoyed Halo, Dead or alive 3, Amped, Project gotham, sonic adventure and even blue stinger more then i did playing mario.

I remember J. Allard mentioned something about it a while back. It might have been something they were thinking about, but like most of the features of the 360, like built in wireless and HD-DVD in the box, it might be scrapped now.

I can't keep up with what will be standard with the 360. It feels like it changes each week. ^_^;;

 

Last I knew Ms was planning the HD as standard for the japanese launch, given the greater penetration of high speed internet, or the more likely scenario of trying ot sel more than 150 xboxes a month. I don't think it's a 60gig, but it wouldn't be surprising if they did offer a larger hd in the future and charged a ridicously high sum of money for it.

And I do think the 60,000 units in the UK is for the whole country since MS is trying what amounts to a simultaneous world wide launch. But wether or not that will be a problem is has yet to be seen, I have a 360 prereserved and I'm hardly looking forward to launch.

3 games. Amazing. Blue Stinger isn't even quality, I just like it. Mario 64 is fun but it's overated IMO. Super Mario Brothers? Wow buddy we aren't going that far back.

So 1-2 games justifies a $400+ purchase?

Of course there was plenty of bad games in the last couple of line ups, but it's not because the system is new that you can't make great games. How can he predict the future anyway? just wait and see.
