Couldn't have been used for a lot -- it's only 512KiB. Probably for engine testing.

The Zilog chip is a SCSI interface and the Altera chip decodes/interfaces the flash and provides the burst-access counters, that's all there is to it. Top connector passes through the CIC and possibly save memory.

cool thanks for the info. I never really planned to use it when I bought it, but it would have been a nice bonus if it was usable. Probably not too many of these around either. thanks for the knowledge.

I see a JTAG header + fpga, 4mbit ROM, adjustable linear voltage regulator (probably for the fpga corevoltage) and 25pin SCSI.

I'd hang on to it. Was there a front cover on it?

yeah but nothing's on it, just blank. The back of the cart has a silver sticker with a number, probably an inventory number for iguana.

Wait, so Acclaim games was technically still Iguana Entertainment, at least at the development level? I thought Acclaim was their new name at some point, and that we could even date the cart based on that.

The most recent part (the CPLD) is dated late 97, so it was probably assembled sometime in 1998.

thanks, if you want you can use the pics for your website. I've been there quite a few times just to look at all the dev stuff, it's a nice site.

Probably this cart was used for debugging Turok 3. I remember an article on the old dextrose website about the development on Turok 3.

They had some nice photos showing David Dienstbier with a Doctor V64. In the N64 cartridge slot was a special adapter plugged in. As far as I remember it was a grey cart with a parallel cable. It could be your cart, but I'm not 100% sure.

You may find this article here, but the photos are missing unfortunately:

If someone has the photos please post it here.

I get so many pms. Sorry about that.

It's custom in house stuff. Iguana made a few items of their own, like
    EA did.
