So I was going through some of my unreleased Xbox stuff and I realized I still don't know what this is. The executable is called Mayhem. There is a single player file and a 2 player split screen file. Do any of you know if this is from an actual game? It might just be a tech demo but I don't really know.
And I hope this is in the right section. I figured since its unreleased I could post this here.

EDIT: Here are pics of the files: http://imgur.com/a/nZhUU

And according to XBEExplorer the build date for both the single player and split screen versions are February 3rd 2004. @PixelButts

EDIT 2: Recorded my friend and I playing 2 player. We found out that if you stack 2 or more sticky bombs in the air and a player drives into them they die, and the game freezes. Also if player 1 presses START or BACK it turns shadows on and off. Either way enjoy the video. @kennypecheur

Pretty interesting ! Have you been able to test the spit screen mode ?

    Doesn't look familiar to me.

I have. A friend of mine owns a retro game shop and I brought my system to his store and we played split screen for about a half an hour.

And I do know that to many explosions that are close to the tank make the game lock up. Hence the reason I'm far away from the building in the video.

    No problem.

And this still doesn't seem familiar to anyone? This little game seems kinda too polished to be just a tech demo.

"Polished", with all that slowdown? I dunno...
Still, might've been a fun game even if they left out the destructible buildings. Can't say I recognize it either though.

lol I meant polished as in visually and the fact that there are menus/different gun modes. Plus the destructible environments are impressive for such a small game. I guess I could have used a different word.

And it bugs me that I don't know what this game/demo is. It seems familiar to.

Look in the XBE for clues.

Might have become Red Faction Guerrilla as a kind anon had said. Doesn't seem that unrealistic either (and looks fun).

Possible, but somehow I feel like the physics in RF:G were a bit, well, crap (like the majority of a building staying upright standing on only a single leftover girder) while your demo looks pretty good in that regard. It's been some time since I last played it though.

Also, about the timing: XBOX 360 released in 2005, RF:G released in 2009. That's quite a while for this demo to get ported over and developed into a full game, but then again Volition just might've been a bit busy with two Saints Rows, so who knows.

Does it maybe say 'Volition' anywhere in the .xbe or resources?

I checked the xbe in Notpad++ and it does not contain the word Volition. I am looking through the rest of the files. So far in the audio folder I found a file titled "E3_Speech_Library.xsr"

I will also upload pics of all the files soon. @Borman

EDIT: I also have not found a copyright date yet but I still have to look through the files.

EDIT 2: Here are pics of all the files:

The last pic is from the split screen version of the game. It has its own separate folder/executable. And in that folder all the files are the same as the single player folder except the xbe is titled: "mayhemSplitscreen2p.xbe" Also in the data folder there is an extra folder called "lightmap". The last picture in the album is of that folder.

You could check the 'TimeDate' fields of the xbes, those should tell you the build date.

I am looking through the xbe but I cant seem to find the TimeDate fields. Where are they usually located and how do I find them?

Thanks for the info. Doesn't give me any new information though. At least now I can look at xbe data easily.
