Dnf was a 5/10 game for me, bad visuals, kinda good humor, passable gameplay, but at least it wasn't a nightmare journey to finish.

    Well, thread successfully derailed :/

To try and get it back on track: I was recently reminded of the heavy graphical downgrades that Watch Dogs received. Since there were ways to re-enable the missing features (at least on PC), does this count this as a "robbed chance" or not? The Division was also heavily downgraded, though that might fall into the "bullshots" category - count?

Yeah I would've preferred Dinosaur Planet to Starfox Adventures, a big fan of Diddy Kong Racing so I was quite sad that Donkey Kong Racing never got made, same with Banjo

Funny enough Dinosaur Planet started off as a Diddy Kong racing sequel heh.

Banjo Threeie would have been nice too.

But to get off the topic of Rares cute critters, I wish we had the DD version of what Ocarina Of Time would have been, seemed pretty damn cool.

I recall the racing segment(s?) being not all that great, so that change might've been for the better.

Cut down, but we got banjo. It was a GBA title from the start, right? What we lost was the accelerometer etc. Are you thinking of the rumoured racing game for the tiger character in diddy?

I really think Zelda Ocarina of Time had much more potential through its alpha/pre-beta stages. The game turned out great as a final product but I still would have liked an SNES/NES styled classic game but in 3D, kind of sucks Zelda 64 was reworked into OOT.

MOTHER 3 in it's Nintendo 64 incarnation. It still has that aura of an epic adventure that never seemed to die even after being reincarnated into a 2D, sprite-based portable game. I hope we see a proto of it in our lifetimes.

    Battlefront 3...

    Need I say anymore...?

(Considering all the footage I've seen, it was everything fans asked for. Pls don't tell me I should be ashamed of my opinion ;))

This may be only somewhat on topic, but - I started a playthrough of Daikatana.

I'm using the unofficial 1.3 patch that, amongst other things, supposedly somewhat fixes the sidekicks, or allows you to disable them altogether. (That's kinda where the 'reworked' aspect comes in... They were a major selling point, but also a huge issue with the original game). I feel it's not as bad as it's made out to be, and deserves a (second?) chance. (However, I would not hold it against you if you skipped past the first few maps and into the sewers, so you get to fight something else other than frogs, mosquitos and the occasional alligator.)

I played a bit of Primal Rage on Midway Arcade Treasures 2, and I read up about ver. 3.0 of the game, which was going to have Necrosan as the final boss in the dinosaur graveyard level, but Atari didn't want to do another update to the original Primal Rage and wanted to do a sequel. So, Necrosan was moved into the never-released Primal Rage II, of which a functioning prototype is residing at the Galloping Ghost Arcade.

Well, I've said Conker in other topics before, so..

Shenmue for Saturn could have actually made that system have a true epic on it that would define the system. It made sense to port it to the new hardware at the time, but that just upset their costs even more after all the technical effort they went through with the Saturn. Can you imagine how many assets they had to make over again?

Sometimes you just think about the man hours that go in to these things. All the blood, sweat, tears. These projects take up people's lives and then just like that, they're gone. It's pretty unfortunate. Despite the fact they get paid either way, to never have their efforts see the light of day almost feels like a crime when you consider how much all that work represents a good amount of these people's lives. just sitting there, working.

I can't imagine how pissed I would be knowing after all of that, Sega possibly hasn't even kept a proper archive of all of that past work. And then it will just sit there never to be used, but it's archived "just because"?

Business just makes no sense sometimes. Sorry for the rant :)

Business makes sense, the whole point is not to reward individual effort but rather combine the sum of individual efforts and turning it into concrete return on investement for the company. Most company top tier managers don't give a single damn about their employee, they care about what is being produced and how this work can turn into money at the end of the day. Nothing new really, simply business basics 101.

What you said is true and valid for many games and companies, so many dusty archives and games that will probably never be played.

Me too. The little timeline that made it into final release DNF didn't give me enough information.
That's what I was going to say. Although wasn't there another video that seemed to be more scripted?
No Man's Sky will go down as 2016's biggest disappointment no question. Honestly, you could say in the past 5 years and not be unrealistic. As much as I like the game, there's just SO much missing.
