I want to reach out to the some of the collectors here to try and collaboratively improve the accuracy of the Wikipedia page that covers special edition Xbox consoles. I don't know if this information exists elsewhere and Wikipedia is a pretty popular platform so it makes sense to keep this page accurate. I just wanted to get a discussion going here to talk about what info is inaccurate or missing so that there's a good archive of this information out there.

For starters, after talking to the Supply Chain Program Manager (@mmm206) for the original Xbox in this thread, it became apparent that the number of Launch Team and Partner Edition consoles is NOT 60 or 100 as Wikipedia used to state but is closer to 1,000 units. I've gone in and fixed that. I've also already uploaded a higher resolution photo that I took of my Launch Team Xbox to the page and fixed a few minor things on the page. I might try and take better photos of it later with my work's super expensive camera setup.

    A few points:
    • White EA console is completely missing
    • Hulk edition is missing photos
    • Translucent green console missing photos
    • "Kasumi-chan Blue" photo is really small. Also, is this console different from the Dead or Alive console?
    • Is the "Skeleton" Xbox called Skeleton, Smoke, or both?
    • Skeleton/Smoke picture is small and poorly lit
    • Panzer Dragoon photo is small/pixelated
    • Halo edition photo missing. There used to be one pictured in the orange Xbox photos but I removed it because there were multiple photos of the orange one and the green Halo console being in the photo seems odd. It should be in its own photo I would think.
    • Halo 2 console missing photos
    • Other missing photos towards the bottom
    • Photos exist for the Atari and World Racing consoles but using them is a different story. Any ideas on how to get those up?
If anyone's willing to lend a hand that would be helpful. It would be great to have one concise resource of what special edition consoles there were.

On a related note, should we make a new page for development/debug/prototype kits? Or maybe add those to this page?

Why completely remove the work someone already did? Take the old photo, crop, make it two separate ones. They can always be replaced by better ones later.

Splitting off a page for unusual units will probably see it nuked for lack of relevance, I would expect. Unless you expand upon it a lot e.g. by also having an indepth pnet explanation.

The photos of the Halo version were shown in the same group of photos as the orange Xbox photos and it was only used in comparison to the orange one. The section that talked about the Halo console didn't have any photos of its own.

These aren't super-rare so to get a better photo should be pretty easy. I tried uploading this one that I took but it wouldn't let me because the photo is posted on other sites and it thinks I stole it. o_O

Well the 360 launch team console info is mine I did under my moniker of KILLERHEDAKE. I submit that info and pics that could be updated.

@mmm206 - Do you know how many clear / "crystal" consoles were produced? Do you notice any glaringly obvious mistakes on the Wiki page?

I haven't checked wiki in a while, some numbers were off a little, some I just don't remember any more, and some SEs were done outside of MS control, or in a way that didn't come directly from me, so I can't intelligently comment.
I'll take a look when I can, and get back here.

I did quite a lot of research on what the announced numbers were, going back to find original press releases and websites. I have those noted somewhere..

Just in case anyone cares, may I just add that there is 2 versions of the crystal Xbox. There is the standard version we all know and love and there is also another with different jewell which contains the words' LIMITED EDITION' in smaller letters underneath XBOX. I know it sold in Australia, (Which had both versions of crystal console), but not sure if available in other regions.

There was also a Playboy competition Xbox (only 1 as far as I know) and it was ebayed about 3 or 4 years ago in Australia. I think it was an unofficial Xbox limited edition and it was based on a crystal but with a clearer X on the top holding with playboy logos showing through - looked a little like the Hello Kitty but for adults. Not sure if it counts, but it exists.

Also the debugs are on the wiki but not the development consoles, which are far more interesting imo.

I recently picked up a smoke/skeleton Xbox and I updated the wikipedia page with some better photos of it, showing the front more clearly and showing the included keychain. Anyways, the page says that 50k were made but only 10k were sold. My keychain is individually numbered and shows "22329/50000", so I would doubt that only 10k were actually sold. Does anyone know why it says only 10k were sold? Is there any validity to that?

Ive never found any validation for 10k sold. I think the biggest thing would be looking at Xbox sales from the time period.
