UPS smashed a DECR-1400 thats now YLOD, that contains a ton of unreleased content

    Added images of controller. And yes lakeflaccid, that sounds like a good idea. Someone (forgot who) said in shoutbox yesterday that it might be possible to solder off the EID chip and move it to another DECR-1400 unit in order to get the key. Let's hope it doesn't come to that. I think I'll give it a go with a heat gun, just need to pick one up at the hardware store (and find the time to do this).

    Yeah after you've exhausted everything, the data will be encrypted but you should dd the drive and make a 1:1 copy of the image. Maybe one day we'll be able to break in.

    If you care about the system PLEASE don't go at it with a heatgun! Send it to someone who can professionally reball the machine for the greatest chance of recovery. If you attempt a heatgun repair that might get it to work temporarily, but once it breaks again it will be even more damaged than before.

    All I need is for it to work long enough to get the data off it. I dont know who to contact for a repair though :/
