Yakumo: my question to you is this, why on Earth do you want wikileaks dead ? cause to me silence is worse, than some body telling me the bare facts of life. Cause the US military BULLSHIT law Don't ask, don't tell is basically what you want with the wikileaks, and that is NOT good. Cause quite a lot of allies of US (including my own country) allows openly gay men to serve. And I am looking forward to the next leak from wiki, cause maybe it will be about why DK "OK´ed" the killing and slaughtering of whales, where Japan and Iceland are doing that a LOT. Just because I am mad at the Japanese whalers, then it does not mean I am against the Japanese people. But it seems to me, if we are against one part of something, then we are against everything. Which we (people, and not just me) are not.
Cause I know you live in Japan, but have you been eating Flipper lately or ever , for that matter ? My father is his young days as a sailor, he ate whale meat. But now he is older, and more wise. And he is anti whale killing and slaughtering, but he would never deny, that he has eaten it(whale meat).
Yakumo, you have earned some serious respect in my eyes over the years, that is why I normally put sama into a part of your name.
And I understand a lot of the things you have gone through, since you lived in Liverpool. You moved to Japan, and embraced its culture which again changed you, to be more (sorry if it offends you, or the whole post offends you) Japanese, in mind and perhaps even in your way of life.
Since for the last MANY years you have been eating, dreaming, drinking and so forth in Japanese, and at times which I fully understood, "attacked" as a Japanese. But have you ever thought about why some of us Europeans goes a bit "wtf" with your posts ? cause I (probably also other people) have some kind of Europeans mindset, since I have that. But at the same time, I have adapted some of the Japanese mindset, which feels fantastically compatible with my own, such as karma and what not. And yes I know karma is a Buddhist way, but still quite a few things from Asian thinking has moved me more, than the so-called "Christian" thinking.

So the preferable alternative is to have governments that lie to their citizens and withhold important information that should be a matter of public record? If you count Viet Nam, Afghanistan, the Korean war, and all the fucked up shit that happened in Latin America in the 60s, 70s and 80s, as Russia and the U.S. "talking trash" - then yeah, the cold war was just "talking trash".
