Dear Does exist PC usb controller adaptater to xbox? USB to XBox adatater is it sufficient? Problem about driver? Thanks
Hi hello, Only xbox controllers will work on xboxes (also thirthparty xbox controllers made for xbox) unless you want to run Linux or Homebrew and they support pc controllers, that is "after" hacking. As far as I can understand your question, and take it as a simple question "Can I use PC controllers on my Xbox gameconsole and play retail games" ... No. You can also ask: Why are USB to XBox adapters there? to Use a USB massstorage as memory. Keyboard support in some games (for typing/chatting...only....sadly) Linux, homebrew.... or ask: Ive seen these converterboards that convert Playstation2 or GameCube to Xbox... even a PS2(keyboard/mouse) to xbox, what are they doing? they are "simulating" a xbox controller. a special IC (mostly a MCU) will decode, translate and send Xbox controller USB protocol to the xbox The retail (unmodded) xbox only likes Xbox controllers (USB VID and PID, certain nodes and protocols... something like this). No other awesome controllers (unless they support the xbox controller thingy, but they probebly already say that on the box/website) EDIT: if your where asking about PCI bus like devices ... There is no use. there is already a USB "controller" ic onboard that works, its just the kernel/games that dont support it. Drivers... somehow. the xbox has no drivers, its all buildin... well, only the Xbox controllers, Soundscard, memorycard, Webcam, IR(remote) and maybe somegames have keyboard support (in code, compiled).
Yep, what CodeASM is getting at is basically, the Xbox doesn't know how to handle the other controllers since the software wasn't written to support them.
