So can we all stop crying now? Sony isn't pulling the same shit, we can just boycott the publishers who will since Sony left online codes up to the publishers.
Nintendo isn't doing the same Shit Microsoft is. Sega with the Naomi 4 isn't and the Coleco next won't have DRM.

The Apple iPlay is still unconfirmed.

THERE Used games live! Now lets get back to playing games.

Sounds good to me. Still keeping my reservations though, used games or not I won't be supporting the system if it's crap.

I don't see why it would be. The Wii U is going to have it day to shine at E3 too Nintendo may not be doing a conference but They're going to Bring it as far as games go, They have to or that's it for them.

So now that we know that Sony is all about consumer freedom after their fuck ups with the PS3. Lets look forward to seeing the games. I really want to see what Both Sony and Nintendo are going to bring to the Table since they are getting my Next Gen Money.

I guess my reasons for picking consoles are different these days. I think the best for me will be the one with the most reliable online service, and the one which harbours the best ports of my favourite games. Past generation most of my favourite games have been MT Framework games so I've always played the 360 ports over the PS3 ports, alternatively I played FFXIII on the PS3, and so forth. Funnily I rarely buy exclusive games, exclusives will not sell a console to me.

Controller support will also be a big factor for me, I'd like to see lagless controls or as lagless as possible, and past generation controller support would be a big selling point for me. If the PS4 will allow me to use my PS3 arcade sticks then that's something which would be a big selling point also, something the XBO won't be offering.

I think Sony learned from it's mistakes with PSN and that leak. XBOX Live, I can't say that Steve Balmer will not be watching you masturbate through Kinect 2

    make .believe

Most idiots and including silly fanboys have forgotten that Microsoft started the rumor about blocking second hand games in the first place.

I got this feeling that some developer's will start blaming to Sony for not blocking used game.

i still have distrust for sony but it's looking more and more likely my system of choice will be a ps4 if i go for any next gen system. unless SEGA pull something out on a secret underground development complex.

either way less bullshit = good news.

Expect great (aka "popular") titles not to be released for ps4.
Less games, worst controller, worst online, yeah, this time sony will shine!

Feels more like passing the buck so that if (more likely when) some publishers start using this kind of DRM, Sony won't get blamed for it.

Yes, the company that put root kits on music CDs is all about consumer freedom.

I thought I was the only one who still remembers their attempt at DRM with that nasty rootkit. That is the exact thing I thought of after reading GoHs "Sony about consumer freedom", hence my bemusement.

I will always remember this quote too. It is so choice.

    (wow, nice sound clip to)
    http://www.f-secure.com/weblog/archives/they_dont_know_so_why_should_they_care.wav

"Most people I think don't even know what a rootkit is, so why should they care about it?"
    - quote from Thomas Hesse, then president of Sony BMG's Global Digital Business

For me, that's synonymous to saying, "Fuck you" to everyone they infected with a shitty malware fuck up of a DRM system. How could someone be so disconnected from reality that that question is reasonable to them?

"Not content with the reaming they give consumers with their shoddy products and condescending attitude, Sony determined that it didn't have enough bad press, so they decided to wield their giant gnarled cock of corporate greed again, this time training it on a small-time import shop called "Lik Sang." Lik Sang was a haven for nerds who wanted to import games and systems from other countries. It turns out that Lik Sang broke some major laws that not only earned them the scorn of Sony, but pissed Sony off to the point where they sued Lik Sang into oblivion. So what was this grave infraction committed against Sony that not only threatened the very foundation of this giant multi-national corporation, but warranted destroying the lives and careers of a group of dorks running a gaming website? Simple: they committed the mortal sin of selling Japanese PSPs to European gamers. Oh no! Not that! "

This is why I am still laughing at GoH's comment.

    Rootkit
Removing features from a console after you already paid for (it was on the fucking box as a feature!)
and probably a million other things I cant think of at the moment.

With sony's history, they would be like "Oh, theres no problem playing used" - then soon as you buy it, just put it in an update.

GoH's has just become a Sony fanboy recently for some reason.

even though sony is choosing not to go the drm route, I cant imagine how the game developers are going to react after hearing "Uh we decided you wont be getting the money from secondhand afterall". Makes you think, will they pressure sony in the future? Will some of them even ditch and go MS? I don't feel too comfortable with this, I feel that in someway, companies like EA will get what they want

there's no proof the MS / EA way will be successful / accepted - EA admitted their online key system was a failure, is sony stick with this there will be no negative change in the market for them between this gen and next. retailers who deal in used games wont have a problem stocking used ps4 games etc more money to be made over their xbox one counterparts which may be lacking features etc.

more games available cheaper faster = more viable a console purchase is - this gen = no big new tech leap, no big new storage medium leap. sony will be once again relying on games to sell their console (rather than it being a blu ray player for example)

im by far not a sony fanboy. i dont own a ps3 and am mainly a pc / reto console gamer. but do have a 360.
