I married my Jamaican gf in Jamaica recently. I now have 3 citizenships. Does that make me Irish American Irish Jamaican American Jamaican?. lol.
@artillery I'm a kind gentle sir, and I had to fight back the 'gasms. I had no idea this thread was here, gonna try and get a pic snapped of my ugly mug at brewery night tonight.
Her family lives there and she rents her place to tourists so a place to stay wasnt a problem though we stayed at a high glass resort for the honey moon. her family owns a farm so we eat fresh good food while over there. and a great place to get away plan tickets can be pretty low. I could show other pics but the legality of them is...
marriages are tons of money in the US but you didnt get married there they charge you a tons for even small things (like photos)
Same with Australia. That and relatives being a pain in the ass when I was getting married is why my husband and myself went "Fuck it, we'll go to the registry and sometime down the track we'll redo it when they're not being asshats about our wedding". Trying to stuff my side of the family (largely not religious or are spiritualists at best) into his partially religious family - ranging from not very religious to hardcore Mormon just wasn't going to work without arguments. That and our wedding was about a year after my husband's father passed away so because stuff got dragged on for so long (due to said religious relatives), the original plans with him involved in the ceremony also got thrown out the window. Saved us some money and most of all saved us the stress of having to deal with family coming out of the woodwork that are typically ignored for obvious reasons. All things considered... Coal Stepping's photos are lovely. Makes me a bit disappointed about mine... but, we do plan to do it over when we can at some point in the future. *Shrug* (I guess my husband is lucky I'm not a nightmare to deal with in regards to planning stuff). XD
Oh boy. Bridezillas must be nearly impossible to endure. What is meant to be a fantastic event turns into a curse that makes you question your partner and creates a harrowing money pit.
Pretty much so. If I had it my way, we'd have probably done something unusual like a survival horror themed one or something of the sort for our own amusement as I'm not particularly a girly-girl type wanting frilly dresses and shit like that. Some of our relatives would've gotten it, majority of our friend's would have too but when we do it over we'll likely not be inviting or telling a large chunk of either of our families to avoid future drama. But we saved money and were able to buy a condo/apartment, did that up and sold it for a profit and are currently looking into buying another piece of property. Wouldn't have been able to buy a house in Australia as the prices here have been batshit insane for years. Also got a somewhat newer car too. Neither of these we would've been able to do if we had listened to rude family bitching to us and making demands of us when in my own opinion - they have no say whatsoever in our own personal event. That said, if I were a bridezilla my mother wouldn't have let that go on and I would've been put into my place instantly. For the photos we did take, my husband looks fantastic and looking back I think I look awful. LMAO.
